A very serious set of charges has left the football future -- and freedom -- of an erstwhile Colorado Buffalo in jeopardy.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Isaiah Holland is facing four felony charges in connection to an incident that allegedly occurred this past October. Those charges include sexual assault of an at-risk victim, sexual contact with an at-risk victim and two counts of second-degree burglary.
Per the paper, “at-risk” means the alleged victim has a physical disability.
The incident that led to the charges began around 1 a.m. local time Oct. 24 when Holland allegedly pushed his way into the alleged victim’s apartment. The woman “felt uncomfortable,” the police report said, “and asked for him to leave ... three or four times.” Holland ultimately left, and the woman went to sleep, but the she “woke up [some time later] ... to the feeling of breath on her face and neck, and she could feel the sensation of someone next to her” in the bed.
From the Daily Camera:Holland is accused of proceeding to grope the woman inappropriately, as she pretended to be asleep, “hoping that the touching would stop and that (Holland) would go away.”
The woman told police Holland eventually left, after an undetermined amount of time in the room, and that she reported the incident to her resident advisors. A CU officer contacted Holland in his dorm room at 4:37 a.m., placed him under arrest and transported him to the Boulder County Jail.
The school confirmed that Holland, the son of former CU and NFL standout Darius Holland, has since been indefinitely suspended from the team. Additionally, the offensive lineman is no longer enrolled in classes at the university.
Said athletic director Rick George in a statement, "[w]e hold our student athletes to very high standards, and they know that when those are not met, there will be consequences.”
Holland was a two-star member of the Buffs’ 2014 recruiting class. He did not see any playing time as he took a redshirt for his true freshman season.
