Three kids pushed Will Hill from Gators to NFL

It was seemingly a foregone conclusion that Will Hill would leave collegiate eligibility on the table in order to make his way to the money-green pastures of the NFL.

While Florida has yet to officially confirm his decision, Hill told Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post that he is indeed making himself available for the April draft.

And, according to the safety, the reason for the early leap was simple -- he has three children he needs to support financially.

“It took a while to come to that conclusion, but the thing that made me come out and try to go pro is I have a family,” Hill told the Post. “It’s a priority of mine to help my family. I have little ones to look after. I feel like this was best decision for me and them.”

Hill, who said Urban Meyer’s decision to retire also played a role in the decision, said he hopes to be taken in the first three rounds -- with a pipe dream of the first round -- although his draft stock took a hit with a subpar 2010 season. The defensive back attributed his slip in play to injuries, while his coaches said during the year that he was underachieving.
