Sophomore offensive lineman Jake Lanefski sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during Tuesday’s practice and will be out the remainder of the season, Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks confirmed this afternoon.
Surgery will be performed, but it’s not yet known when it will take place.
The injury is fairly significant to the Wildcats’ line depth as Lanefski can play both guard and tackle, and is the top backup at each of those positions.
When combined with Marcus Davis’ season-ending injury in the opener vs. Miami, UK is now without its top two reserves at center and guard.
