USC DE Don Hill’s suspension linked to ‘student-conduct issue’

USC has already lost one defensive lineman to a significant injury, now they’ve lost another to an off-field issue.

Clay Helton has previously confirmed that Don Hill (pictured, No. 59) is not taking part in spring practice because of what the head coach described as a “violation of team rules.” The Los Angeles Daily News has expounded on that vague description, writing that "[s]everal sources tell me Hill’s suspension is related to a student-conduct issue that occurred during a social gathering.”

The suspension is expected to keep the defensive end out for the whole of spring practice, and could keep him on the sidelines throughout the summer and, perhaps, the start of summer camp.

Around this time last year, USC tight end Bryce Dixon was suspended for a student-conduct issue and ultimately left the school. He also ultimately turned to carjacking and armed robberies (allegedly), but that’s a whole other story.

Hill, a three-star 2014 signee, played in five games as a redshirt freshman last season. He made his most noise off the field, however, as he was arrested in January of 2015 on a drunk-driving charge.
