OK, semi-officially as a verbal commitment is non-binding but still...
Former Michigan commit Dee Hart, who de-committed from the Wolverines due to the uncertainty swirling around the program in general and the coaching position specifically, announced his verbal commitment to Alabama this afternoon during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. On NBC.
And how did he go about announcing his decision? “Roll Tide”, of course. He also added that head coach Nick Saban was a big part of his decision.
Hart’s declaration was one of the “surprise” announcements of the day. As late as the middle of this past week during all-star game practice, Hart denied reports that he would announce his decision during the game, and that he had opted for the Tide over Florida.
Obviously, today, he had a change of heart when it came to the timing of an announcement. Kind of like his commitment to Michigan, come to think of it.
Hart is currently rated as the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country by Rivals.com, and the No. 17 player at any position.
