Wake Forest QB decides to transfer

Right around this time last year, it was thought Skylar Jones had the inside track on Wake Forest’s starting quarterback job.

Fast-forward a year, and Jones, of his own volition, is on the outside of the football program looking in.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal, Jones has decided to transfer from Wake. Jones said he will look to use his final season of eligibility at an unnamed school as a grad student.

Head coach Jim Grobe gave Jones the option of moving to wide receiver -- but without guarantee of a spot on the final roster -- but the senior opted to continue playing QB at a different school.

The move makes sense for Jones, especially if he wants to continue playing QB as he had no shot of leapfrogging sophomore Tanner Price, who started three-quarters of the games in 2010.
