Best XI: Week 10

We had another great set of performances this week and had a few players stand out from the pack.  In terms of team performances, Chelsea continued rolling while Southampton won away from home to keep up pace.  For more on the storylines, check out Neal’s Monday Morning Manager.  From me, here is your Best XI.

Best XI

One thing to note here is that Harry Kane and Jordi Gomez made the Best XI instead of Sergio Aguero and Cesc Fabregas due to pricing issues.  Fabregas and Aguero would have made it if didn’t have a budget or if you had them at discounted rates.

The most impressive performance was Alexis Sanchez this week.  The Arsenal forward has thrived as of late and has been acclimated to the Premier League effortlessly.  There are many fantasy managers who dropped him early in the season after a few average games, but they are now missing out on have a top five striker at a really low cost.  He’s now scored four goals in two matches and is a fantastic option going forward.  Eden Hazard also had a great match and topped midfielders in points, as our analyst Nik had predicted in his Player Picks earlier last week.

Points

The top possible score this week in an allowable formation was 242 points, a very solid performance although we had to cut down on players to fit within the budget.

Cost

It seems like the price alternates between really expensive squads and cheap squads.  This week, we had a very expensive squad and after cutting down, we were left with a squad worth  £ 94.64M*.  The new price of our Best XI (if you were to try to create this team now after the price changes) is £ 124.47M.  That’s a 31.5% increase in price.

*Keep in mind the cost does NOT include any substitutes and is thus 96M instead of 100M.

MVP

This week’s MVP was once again Alexis Sanchez.  Two weeks in a row! I could just say the exact thing I said last week, replacing Sunderland with Burnley: “The Arsenal man fully deserves this away after taking advantage of his opportunities against Burnley.  The winger has been very good this season and has erased all doubt from those who weren’t sure how he would adapt to the Premier League and should be used with confidence in the future.”

Formation

Back to the old 3-4-3.  I’m tired of drilling this one home.

Repeat Offenders

We’ve added a number of players to the list this week and we’ve also seen Alexis Sanchez catch up to the leaders with three.  One surprising piece of information here is that many of the top players in the Yahoo! game haven’t even made a Best XI!  It just goes to show how much consistency matters over the long season.

Team Rankings

Arsenal were quite a ways behind a few weeks ago but have now caught up to the leaders after having Sanchez and Calum Chambers both appear two weeks in a row.  Can they carry this momentum into next week and take over the lead?
