College Hoops DFS: Tuesday 3/9

We have a nice six-game Tuesday slate with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 ET. DraftKings has contests running with these six matchups in mind, so we will be focusing on that DFS platform. Here are the odds for these games:

Wake Forest vs. Notre Dame (-8) / Total: 141

Oakland vs. Cleveland State (-2.5) / Total: 140

Elon vs. Drexel (-4)  / Total: 130.5

Mount St. Mary’s vs. Bryant (-6.5) / Total: 133

BYU vs. Gonzaga (-14) / Total: 155.5

Oral Roberts vs. North Dakota State (-1) / Total: 146

With that, let’s get to the daily fantasy analysis!

GUARDS

Max Abmas - Oral Roberts - DraftKings: $9,000

Abmas has one of the highest overall projections of this slate according to our CBB DFS Optimizer. There’s no shortage of top-dollar picks tonight, but I believe Abmas represents a strong investment. He’s averaging a strong 44 FPPG mark over his last eight games, and you better believe he’ll put it all on the line while trying to push his team into the NCAA Tournament. The last time Oral Roberts faced North Dakota State (Feb. 2), Abmas came up with 42 fantasy points. A similar performance isn’t out of the question.

Darius Burford - Elon - DraftKings: $5,500

I already mentioned Abmas as one of the top overall plays in our CBB DFS Optimizer, but the projections have Burford as one of the best values. After digging underneath the surface, it’s not hard to see why. Even though this Elon-Drexel matchup is expected to be a low-scoring contest, Burford should have plenty of room to get his numbers. He has had ups and downs recently (like most college players), but Burford has also posted 31+ FP in four of his last six. He’s fresh off a 36 FP outing yesterday, and I’m expecting Burford to pay off his mid-range salary of only $5,500.

Brandon Averette - BYU - DraftKings: $5,600

Averette is a capable value filler if you need another inexpensive guard to round out your lineup. He’s averaging a consistent 26 FPPG mark over his last eight, and playing up in pace against Gonzaga (15th in possessions/game) could give him more looks. The last time these two teams met, Averette put up 28 FP against the Zags. He’s a scrappy guard who is capable of posting 15 points, five assists, a few rebounds, and a steal or two in this West Coast Final.

Also Consider: Jalen Suggs, Damian Chong Qui, D’Moi Hodge

FORWARDS

Drew Timme - Gonzaga - DraftKings: $8,500

Timme is not cheap, but I believe he has the best floor/ceiling combination of this slate. He’s averaging a cool 33 FPPG on the season, occasionally hitting upside of 45+ FP along the way. That includes a 44 fantasy point outburst the last time he faced BYU. I’m expecting Gonzaga to put their foot on the gas pedal in this West Coast Final, as they don’t have to worry about resting their starters with another game around the corner. That could benefit Timme and the other top players of the Zags.

Caleb Lohner - BYU - DraftKings: $5,300

Lohner was featured in yesterday’s CBB DFS article, and he came through with a serviceable 25 FP showing vs. Pepperdine. He’s seeing around 35 minutes per game for BYU, which gives him plenty of opportunities to meet fantasy value. Lohner will be called upon to keep Gonzaga off the glass, so the Cougars will definitely need his presence for heavy minutes. Similar to his teammate, Averette, I don’t mind locking in Lohner as a respectable bargain while playing up in pace.

Juwan Durham - Notre Dame - DraftKings: $5,800

Durham is averaging a consistent 24 FPPG this season, which makes for fine value when factoring the non-imposing $5,800 salary. I would consider that his baseline tonight, as Durham could reach well beyond that. His opponent, Wake Forest, ranks 291st in defensive efficiency and 241st in rebound rate. The last time these two teams met (Feb. 2), Durham came up with 42 fantasy points in 24 minutes. He could dominate once again.

Also Consider: Torrey Patton, Isaiah Mucius
