FanDuel Bargain Bin: Friday

by Spencer Limbach

For "bargains" on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

Let me just tell you that there are plenty of fine options under that salary threshold for this Friday slate of games. Because of this, I will be ranking the value plays in terms of priority to your lineup.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays:

1 - O.J. Mayo – SG – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Mayo was the posterboy of our Bargain Bin article on Wednesday, and he responded with a nice 32 FP performance in 36 minutes. He’ll likely see those minutes as Milwaukee’s starting point guard once again, considering that Jerryd Bayless and Greivis Vasquez have already been ruled out. The matchup against Toronto doesn’t look great on paper, but Mayo’s salary is too cheap considering a bump in minutes and ball-handling responsibilities. Play him with confidence.

2 - Marcin Gortat – C – Washington (FanDuel Price: $6,300)

Okay, okay…I crossed the $6000 threshold, but that must mean I really like Gortat as a value anyway. He’ll continue to see stabilized minutes and increased rebounding numbers with Washington’s frontcourt shorthanded. The matchup at hand (New Orleans) looks great, as the Pelicans rank 25th in defensive efficiency against the Center position. Also, this is one of the highest projected scoring games of the day, which certainly doesn’t hurt.

3 - Jae Crowder – SF – Boston (FanDuel Price: $5,200)

This Golden State-Boston game should have a breakneck pace translating to a fantasy-friendly atmosphere. Crowder is a bargain play who could fall within that. His minutes are more stable than they’ve been all season, seeing 33-35 per game. His scoring marks have gotten better over time, and seeing quality minutes in this up-tempo matchup should provide enough peripheral stat opportunities to meet value.

4 - Jon Leuer – PF – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $4,500)

If Tyson Chandler is back in the mix, Leuer’s fantasy prospects could take a small hit. However, he should continue to start over Markieff Morris and see around 28-30 minutes per game. He’s averaging nearly 1.00 FP/minute this season, representing a fantasy-friendly game that should be displayed within this high-scoring matchup with Portland. Leuer is a very reliable bargain option once again.

5 - Cody Zeller – PF – Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $4,000)

Zeller has been up-and-down while filling in for Al Jefferson, but his fantasy prospects still look good considering the near-minimum salary. Granted, the matchup against Memphis looks tough, but it should also force Zeller to see plenty of minutes, as the Hornets will try to counter the Grizzlies big frontcourt. That alone could stabilize Zeller’s production tonight.

6 - Andre Iguodala – SF – Golden State (FanDuel Price: $4,900)

I like Andre Iguodala as is. If Klay Thompson (currently questionable) is ruled out, he becomes even more of a priority. He would see a few more minutes and shot attempts as a result, which is enough to consider him in all formats. Iguodala’s role can be tough to peg on a “per game” basis, but Thompson’s absence would likely mean more secure playing time.

7 - Patty Mills – PG – San Antonio (FanDuel Price: $3,700)

Tony Parker is out tonight. As a result, Patty Mills will probably take over as starting point guard. He has been seeing 20-22 minutes a game anyway, but that should increase to 25-28 tonight. It’s not a massive increase by any means, but enough to give Mills a look if trying to save some cap space. There’s a lot of opportunity cost at point guard tonight (great options like Westbrook, Curry, Wall, etc), so you don’t necessarily have to utilize him in one of those spots. Still, he’s there if you decide to organize your lineup that way.

8 - Will Barton – SG – Denver (FanDuel Price: $5,900)

Barton has been red-hot as of late, hitting 28+ FP in five of the last six games, including a nice 38 FP performance last outing vs Orlando. He has been seeing more minutes off the bench as a result of this success, and the matchup against Minnesota is nice.

9 - Alex Len – C – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $4,700)

Len would be a fantastic play tonight if Tyson Chandler (questionable) is confirmed out. However, we may not receive word before lineups lock, as this is a later game. As is, Len is strictly a tournament play due to that situation, but he would be one of the best value picks if starting for Chandler. His opponent tonight, Portland, ranks dead last in defensive efficiency vs Centers.

10 - Gorgui Dieng – C – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $4,500)

Dieng is essentially the pivot off of Len, in case his injury situation doesn’t work out. Gorgui doesn’t have immense upside, but he has been very consistent with 20+ FP in seven of the past eight games. Dieng has actually benefitted from Minnesota’s “lineup shuffling”, seeing 30+ minutes in three of the past four games. He can play both the PF and C spot for the Wolves, which helps stabilize his minutes.
