FanDuel Bargain Bin: Friday

On FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

We have an unusually thin five-game Friday slate, so I will rank the top five bargains by priority to your lineups (with a few more to consider as well).

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 – Ishmael Smith – PG – Philadelphia (FanDuel Price: $5,800)

Smith has the 76ers looking like a legitimate team as of late, and he’s putting up some pretty great numbers as well. He has hit 40+ FP in each of the past two games, and now he’ll face a Lakers team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency against opposing point guards. Smith will be extremely popular tonight, but I believe he is 100% essential to your FanDuel lineups.

2 - Nerlens Noel – PF – Philadelphia (FanDuel Price: $6,300)

Okay, so Noel is technically over the $6000 “bargain threshold”, but he is so imperative to lineup construction tonight that we’ll make an exception. Jahlil Okafor is back from injury, but he will continue to come off the bench, allowing Noel the chance to start once again. Noel has thrived in that role, hitting 37 and 40 FP respectively over the past two, and showing excellent rapport with Ish Smith. He should keep things going against a Lakers team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency against opposing centers.

3 - Evan Fournier – SG – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $5,600)

Everything lines up well for Fournier tonight. He’s still cheap despite his recent surge in production. The matchup is great against a Washington team that ranks 26th against shooting guards. He has been seeing a ton of minutes lately, leading to a consistent 30 FPPG over the past six. Fire him up with confidence once again!

4 - Jordan Clarkson – PG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $5,900)

Clarkson had a couple bad performances in the past week, but both of them came in tough blowout losses, so we won’t necessarily hold it again him. The matchup tonight is very kind, as Philadelphia ranks 22nd in defensive efficiency vs point guards. On top of that, we are expecting a high-scoring (208 over/under), competitive battle in the Staples Center tonight. All of this should inspire Clarkson to a nice 30+ FP performance.

5 - Jeremy Lamb – SG – Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $4,200)

Jeremy Lin has been ruled out tonight, meaning someone will need to pick up his backcourt minutes of 30-35. Lamb was the largest beneficiary of Lin’s absence last game, hitting 28 FP in 23 minutes. I like Evan Fournier a little more despite the higher price point, but there is more stability in playing time there. However, if Nic Batum (game-time decision) is ruled out, Lamb becomes much safer in minutes and volume.

Aaron Brooks – PG – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $4,000)

There’s some risk within this situation. Derrick Rose missed last game, and was amazing in his stead, putting up 34 FP in 41 minutes. Rose will reportedly test his injury in pregame warm-ups to determine his playing status. If he’s out, Brooks becomes a very good bargain play. However, since this game is scheduled one hour after lineups lock, there’s a good chance we won’t have concrete news on Rose’s status before lineups lock. You can roster Brooks just in case, but that’s a tournament only scenario.

Louis Williams – SG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $5,300)

The game log of Lou Williams is identical to his aforementioned teammate, Jordan Clarkson. He had a few rough games where the Lakers were overmatched and blown-out. However, that won’t be the case vs Philadelphia tonight, and Williams has since turned things around for 27 and 30 FP respectively over the past two. He’s a nice, cheap tournament pick tonight.
