When looking at “bargains” on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.
We have a quality 10-game slate on tap tonight, meaning I will be ranking the top ten bargains by priority to your FanDuel NBA lineups.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays.
1 - Bradley Beal – SG – Washington (FanDuel Price: $5,900)
Beal finds himself in a familiar spot, topping the Bargain Bin rankings once again. He’s simply too cheap considering his talent and role. After a couple mediocre outings, Beal got back on track with a 34 fantasy point performance at Sacramento on Wednesday. I’m expecting similar output tonight against a Phoenix team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency against the shooting guard position. Lock him in and don’t turn back!
2 - Derrick Williams – PF – New York (FanDuel Price: $3,600)
Williams becomes a very comfortable value prospect if Kristaps Porzingis (questionable) misses another game. In recent games with Porzingis out, Williams has started and seen 32-35 minutes, accounting for 26 and 24 fantasy points respectively. That’s more than enough to solidify value for near-minimum salary, and a matchup against Brooklyn (29th in defensive efficiency against power forwards could unleash some upside beyond that. Keep an eye on Porzingis’ status. If he’s in, cross Williams off this list. If he’s out, click Williams into your lineup.
3 - Kosta Koufos – C – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $3,900)
True to form, DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended for accumulating too many technical fouls throughout the regular season. That means Kosta Koufos will likely get the starting nod. In two recent games with Cousins out, Koufos has seen 38 and 32 minutes, translating to 35 and 25 fantasy points respectively. The matchup against Hassan Whiteside and Miami isn’t great, but Koufos should be able to return a solid line of 25+ fantasy points through volume alone. Target with confidence!
4 - Shane Larkin – PG – Brooklyn (FanDuel Price: $3,900)
Larkin has been very solid ever since usurping the starting point guard roll, averaging 27 FPPG over the past five. On top of that, he seems to be looking more comfortable game-by-game, creating some much-needed confidence for the young guard. This is a non-imposing matchup in a competitive draw with the Knicks, making Larkin a safe value play if needed.
5 - Otto Porter – SF – Washington (FanDuel Price: $5,500)
Porter has been a safe mid-range selection over the past few weeks, and tonight is no exception. He has a great matchup against Phoenix, who ranks 27th in defensive efficiency against the small forward position. Porter has been seeing 33-36 minutes regularly, translating to a solid 27 FPPG over the past ten. He should be above that total tonight.
6 - P.J. Tucker – SF – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $5,100)
When Tucker sees enough minutes, he usually produces some satisfying fantasy totals. His key to seeing abundant playing time revolves around two things: 1) a competitive game & 2) a relatively thin frontcourt. First off, this game is expected to be somewhat competitive, as the Suns are at home and listed as 7 point underdogs. Secondly, Mirza Teletovic is questionable, and his absence would open up more playing time and shot opportunities for Tucker. I believe Tucker is a solid play either way, but his upside really becomes activated if Mirza sits.
7 - Courtney Lee – SG – Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $4,300)
Lee is a sneaky cash game filler for this non-imposing salary. He has quietly been producing, hitting 24+ fantasy points in four of the past five games. His playing time is trending upward as well, seeing 35 and 37 minutes respectively over the past two games. Those minutes would become more secure if Jeremy Lin (questionable) is ruled out. The matchup against Philly is generous as well, and Lee posted 30 fantasy points on this same Sixers’ team on Tuesday.
8 - Josh Richardson – SG – Miami (FanDuel Price: $4,900)
Dwyane Wade is doubtful tonight, meaning Josh Richardson could step into a larger role. What that role is…we aren’t exactly sure. I’d feel more comfortable if Richardson was listed in the starting lineup, as he would then enjoy significant minutes in a great matchup against the Kings’ notoriously bad backcourt defense. Because of the uncertainty surrounding his role, I’m considering him more of a tournament play with upside if he sees heavy minutes in this appealing draw.
9 - Marvin Williams – PF – Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $5,600)
Williams has been all over the place lately, which is why I’m considering him a tournament only play. However, the matchup is tasty against a decimated Philadelphia frontcourt, which could inspire some upside. Williams’ range is legitimately 15-35 fantasy points, and the welcoming matchup suggests he’ll land somewhere on the upper part of that.
10a - Willie Cauley-Stein – PF – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $4,900)
Cauley-Stein is another volatile play with a wide range of outcomes to consider tonight. He has been up-and-down as of late, and we honestly don’t know what to expect in a tough matchup against Miami. However, the fact that DeMarcus Cousins isn’t playing creates some reason to consider WCS while filling out multiple tournament lineups, as the Kings may call his number more often than usual tonight.
10b - Greivis Vasquez – PG – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $3,500)
Jerryd Bayless was running the show for Milwaukee lately, but he is doubtful for tonight’s game. On top of that, Tyler Ennis is questionable. If they are both ruled out, Greivis Vasquez will be the only point guard remaining for Milwaukee. He is just coming off an injury, but would be forced to play heavy minutes if the Bucks backcourt is depleted of ball-handlers. This is a situation to monitor as we approach closer to tip-off.
Jordan Farmar – PG – Memphis (FanDuel Price: $3,500)
Justin Anderson – SF – Dallas (FanDuel Price: $3,800)
John Henson – PF – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $4,400)
