FanDuel Bargain Bin: Sunday

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

When looking at “bargains” on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

We have a moderate 5-game slate, meaning I will rank the top five bargains in the FanDuel player pool. We will be examining the "main slate", consisting of games starting 6:00 ET and later.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Evan Fournier – SG – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $5,400)

Fournier threw up a dud last game, but don’t hold that against him tonight. He has an excellent matchup to get back on track, taking on a bad Philly defense that ranks 22nd against opposing shooting guards and 28th vs small forwards (Fournier floats between the two positions). His minutes have been extremely stable around 38-40, which makes him a very consistent fantasy producer who has hit 28+ fantasy points in eight of the past nine games. It would be a mistake to fade him on the sole merit of Friday’s performance.

2 - Aaron Gordon – PF – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $6,300)

Gordon is technically outside the bargain threshold of $6000, but he’s the semi-cheap power forward I prefer the most tonight (over Gorgui Dieng and Myles Turner). Like every other Orlando player, he has an excellent matchup against this poor Philly defense that happens to rank 26th in defensive efficiency against opposing power forwards. These two teams met last week, and Gordon churned out a solid 35 fantasy point performance. Consider that his baseline for tonight.

3 - Zach LaVine – SG – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $4,900)

LaVine has been in and out of the starting lineup as of late, but it appears that he will serve as the team’s starting shooting guard for the moment (or at least he should be). Even if LaVine doesn’t start, he’ll still see around 32-35 minutes, which has been the trend over the past ten games. Through that span, he is averaging a solid 24 FPPG, which is decent for this bargain salary. You know he has upside well beyond that if his shot is falling, as LaVine is not shy about shooting the ball.

4 - Ian Mahinmi – C – Indiana (FanDuel Price: $5,000)

Mahinmi is more of a tournament recommendation, as I would suggest paying up for Vucevic, Towns, or Drummond in cash games (particularly Vucevic). However, it’s tough to ignore the current situation for Indiana’s starting big man. He has been on a nice little stretch, averaging 28 FPPG over the past five games. On top of that, the matchup appears very favorable against a Portland team that ranks 28th in defensive efficiency against opposing centers.

5 - Cory Joseph – PG – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $4,200)

This pick hinges on the status of DeMar DeRozan, who is considered questionable with an illness tonight. If DeRozan is out, Joseph will likely see more playing time and offensive responsibilities as a result. He was already performing well in his modest role of 25 minutes off the bench, hitting 26+ fantasy points in three of the past five outings. We can expect that, or even more from him, if DeRozan is sidelined.
