When looking at “bargains” on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.
We are looking at the later games today, starting at 6:00 ET. There are six matchups within this slate, meaning I will be ranking the top five bargains by priority to your FanDuel NBA lineups.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays.
1 - Rudy Gobert – C – Utah (FanDuel Price: $6,100)
Gobert is simply too cheap, looking at a non-imposing matchup that hardly deters his recent hotstreak. Gobert has hit 41, 39, and 32 fantasy points respectively over the past three, and his salary has yet to account for the upswing. He’ll shoulder more frontcourt responsibility if Derrick Favors (questionable) is out, but Gobert is playable in all formats either way.
2 - Trey Lyles – PF – Utah (FanDuel Price: $4,000)
Derrick Favors is questionable for tonight’s matchup at Phoenix. In all honesty, the Jazz are fully capable of handling the Suns without Favors, so it makes sense to give him another day to heal up. However, we’ll need to double-check the injury report to confirm his status. If Favors is out, Trey Lyles will see a healthy boost in playing time, as he recorded 29 fantasy points in 35 minutes on Friday vs Minnesota.
3 - Derrick Williams – PF – New York (FanDuel Price: $3,600)
Kristaps Porzingis is considered questionable, but I’d be very surprised if he played through his shoulder injury tonight. Coach Rambis mentioned yesterday that New York will be very cautious with their rookie star, which seems to mean that Kristaps is extremely questionable for tonight’s matchup. That means more playing time for Derrick Williams, who usually sees 32-35 minutes with Porzingis sidelined.
4 - Jerian Grant – PG – New York (FanDuel Price: $3,600)
Jose Calderon is currently using crutches, and he could possibly be out for the season. Referencing that, it’s pretty safe to say that he’s doubtful for tonight’s game. Jerian Grant started in place of Calderon on Friday, pouring in a respectable 24 fantasy points in 28 minutes. He’s a fine near-minimum salary filler in a non-imposing matchup against the Pacers … Jordan Farmar has a similar projection at Orlando, but his minutes have been hovering only around 23-25 as of late.
5 - Maurice Harkless – SF – Portland (FanDuel Price: $4,100)
The small forward position isn’t exactly inspiring tonight, which has me looking towards Harkless as a cheap filler. There’s a chance Portland will run smaller to offset Golden State’s speedy lineup, meaning Mo-Hark could see some extra run. He usually plays around 30 minutes anyway, and he should surpass that threshold in this fast-paced, high-scoring matchup that really suits his playing style.
