FanDuel Bargain Bin: Thursday

When we are talking about bargain plays on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

With a lower amount of games on the docket tonight (five total), I will be outlining the top five value plays for your FanDuel lineups, listed in terms of priority. Don’t worry, there will be an “also consider” section to sift through while trying to make your lineups work.

TOP FIVE VALUE PLAYS

Rodney Hood – SG - Utah (FanDuel Price: $4500)

The shooting guard position tonight isn’t exactly inspiring. Sure, you have Jimmy Butler sitting on top, but he’s pretty expensive ($8000), especially when you are trying to blend Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant into a lineup. Even if you do go with Butler, you’ll still need a second shooting guard to fill out your lineup. That’s where Rodney Hood comes in. He’s very reliable, averaging a consistent 23 FPPG as a starter. He has a great matchup, playing up in pace against Denver. Lock him in.

Nikola Mirotic – SF - Chicago (FanDuel Price: $6000)

It seems like every time I write the FanDuel NBA Bargain Bin, Mirotic’s name comes up. He’s still too cheap while considering his role within this offense, and playing up in pace against Oklahoma City could help him get more shots and rebounds. Mirotic had a bad game last time around, but we should note that his minutes were pinched as Chicago got blown out by some unbelievable shooting by Charlotte. Target with confidence in this short slate.

Marvin Williams – PF - Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $4800)

Marvin has been playing heavy minutes for Charlotte, even with Cody Zeller active off the bench. That’s reassuring for his prospects moving forward, as Williams is averaging a consistent 26 fantasy points per game this season. His minutes last game (25) were suppressed by a blowout, so we can project something closer to the 33+ he logged in previous outings. A matchup at Dallas looks favorable as well.

Brandan Wright – C - Memphis (FanDuel Price: $4,100)

This could be the key value play of the day. Marc Gasol is currently listed as questionable for tonight’s tilt vs Portland. He left last game early after logging just 15 minutes, and Wright stepped in to promptly produce 29 FP in 28 minutes. Given the starting role and a decent matchup, he could elaborate on those numbers. You can check on Gasol’s status through this link. If he’s not playing, Wright becomes a no-brainer value pick.

ALSO CONSIDER

Courtney Lee – SG - Memphis (FanDuel Price: $4,000)

Lee doesn’t have a ton of upside, but he’s cheap and logging reasonable minutes for Memphis. If you are trying to work Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook into the same lineup, the Lee/Hood combination at shooting guard makes it possible.

Nemanja Bjelica – SF – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $3,600)

Most people may overlook this pick, as Bjelica isn’t well known among the casual NBA fans. He has seen respectable floor time for the Timberwolves, posting minute totals of 23, 26, and 31 over the past three. He’s averaging 18 fantasy points per contest over that span, which is good enough to carry his weight while considering the near-minimum salary.

Mason Plumlee – C – Portland (FanDuel Price: $5,100)

Here’s another injury situation to watch, as Meyers Leonard is questionable for Portland. He only logged 11 minutes before leaving last night’s game at Utah, then Mason Plumlee filled in for 37 fantasy points in 35 minutes while getting promoted to the first team. You can monitor Leonard’s situation here. It's a tough matchup against the Grizzlies, which is why Wright would be preferred over Plumlee if his respective injury situation works out.
