FanDuel Bargain Bin: Wednesday

by Spencer Limbach

On FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

There are plenty of fine options under that salary threshold for this Wednesday slate of games. Because of this, I will be ranking the Top 10 value plays in terms of priority to your lineups.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

1 - Jeremy Lin – SG – Charlotte (FanDuel Price: $5,000)

Kemba Walker has been ruled out tonight, meaning Jeremy Lin will be manning the lead point guard spot. That, in and of itself, is enough to consider him a great value play. However, Nicolas Batum is also questionable, and his absence would translate to an even heavier workload for Lin. Last game, at the Lakers, Lin was still trying to overcome an ankle injury, resulting in just 22 minutes of playing time. The Hornets have to play him heavy minutes tonight, and Lin has had some time to fully heal his injury. Target with confidence tonight.

2 - Darren Collison – PG – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $4,500)

This pick depends on the status of Rajon Rondo, who is considered questionable. If Rondo is out, Collison becomes one of the best values on the board. If Rondo does end up playing, cross Collison off the list of value plays. Collison has proven himself as a capable backup throughout his career, so he’d be a near-lock to exceed value if situated in the starting spot tonight.

3 - Myles Turner – PF – Indiana (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

Turner is an excellent selection tonight, and one you should strongly consider for cash games. He’s starting and seeing 36+ minutes as of late, and that should continue with Ian Mahinmi still out. He has an outstanding matchup against Brooklyn tonight, a team that ranks 29th against opposing power forwards. Click him in without hesitation.

4 - Jordan Hill – C – Indiana (FanDuel Price: $4,700)

As I just mentioned, Ian Mahinmi has been ruled out for a third straight game, meaning Jordan Hill will continue to start and see 36+ minutes. He can be utilized confidently in the same lineup as his teammate Myles Turner, as they are both cheap enough with solidified playing time and an excellent matchup. In his two previous starts, Hill notched 44 and 32 fantasy points respectively.

5 - Robert Covington – SF – Philadelphia (FanDuel Price: $5,100)

Covington is far too cheap considering his cemented role of 36+ minutes in the starting lineup. Within that, he is averaging a consistent 29 FPPG over the past nine games. I should mention that Covington was dealing with an illness earlier this week, but he was able to practice fully yesterday, expecting to be a “full-go” tonight. The matchup against Atlanta is considered neutral, but as I said, Covington is far too cheap considering his role within the Philly offense.

6 - Gorgui Dieng – C – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

Dieng and Jordan Hill are my primary targets at the center position tonight, as it seems like a great spot to utilize some value. Of course, we’ll need to make sure Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Garnett are out before considering Dieng, but it sounds like they are both highly questionable again tonight. Dieng has started the past four games in their absence, hitting an impressive 36 FPPG mark over that span.

7 - J.J. Barea – PG – Dallas (FanDuel Price: $3,900)

Deron Williams and Devin Harris have been ruled out tonight, which means Barea should see 28-30 minutes, potentially in a starting role. Raymond Felton will see an uptick as well, but Barea is cheaper with more upside, so we are considering him of the two. The matchup isn’t great, but heightened playing time for a near-minimum price makes him a nice filler.

8 - Luol Deng – SF – Miami (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

This pick depends on the status of Hassan Whiteside, who is considered questionable. If Whiteside is out, Miami will likely run out more “small ball” lineups featuring Deng at the PF position. He has excelled in this role as of late, averaging 29 FPPG over the past three. Also, his individual matchup would be better in that case, as Dallas ranks 20th vs opposing power forwards.

9 - Taj Gibson – PF – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $5,300)

With Joakim Noah and Nikola Mirotic out, Taj will continue to see heavy minutes. This is a high-scoring game (213 over/under) against one of the fastest paced teams in the league. That helps everyone on the Chicago side, and Gibson is staring at a pretty decent matchup, as the Kings rank 23rd vs opposing power forwards.

10 - Aaron Gordon – PF – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $5,200)

The matchup is difficult for Gordon tonight, as Oklahoma City ranks third against opposing power forwards. However, Gordon’s draw against the Spurs (ranked 1st vs PFs) on Monday was tough as well, but he ended up with a solid 31 FP in 31 minutes. This game also has shootout potential, sitting with a high 212 over/under. Overall, I believe Myles Turner and (maybe) Taj Gibson are safer picks in better matchups, but Gordon has some capable upside shown in the past two games.
