For bargains on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.
There are plenty of fine option under that salary threshold tonight games. Because of this, I will be ranking the Top 10 Value Plays in terms of priority to your lineup, also outlining a few more to consider for good measure.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays:
1 - D’Angelo Russell – PG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $5,300)
Russell will probably be the most popular selection on FanDuel tonight, but I believe he’s essential to cash games. On top of his impressive 50 fantasy point performance last night, a number of other factors line up in his favor. First off, Denver ranks 24th in defensive efficiency against opposing point guards. Next, this is an up-tempo matchup that should be competitive throughout. Finally, Russell’s salary is far too cheap considering his new role as the Lakers starting floor general. Lock him in!
2 - Matt Barnes – SF – Memphis (FanDuel Price: $5,200)
If you want to snag Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, and stabilize the rest of your lineup, Matt Barnes is a secure value play to help make that happen. Barnes is seeing a stable complement of 36+ minutes every game, and this draw against a fast-paced Sacramento team (ranks 23rd vs SFs) really feeds into his skill set. Barnes has an excellent floor/ceiling combination to utilize in all formats.
3 - Bobby Portis – PF – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $4,400)
Chicago’s frontcourt has been decimated by injuries. Taj Gibson is doubtful tonight, as he will join the injured likes of Joakim Noah and Nikola Mirotic on the sidelined. That means Bobby Portis could start tonight, and he’ll likely see increased minutes, even if he’s coming off the bench. Portis has been playing great recently, hitting 60 fantasy points in 55 minutes combined over the past two games. An expanded role against Orlando (ranks 25th vs power forwards) looks like a recipe for fantasy success tonight.
4 - Ryan Anderson – PF – New Orleans (FanDuel Price: $5,800)
If Anthony Davis is out (listed as a game-time decision), Anderson vaults to the top of the list of bargains tonight. Even if Anthony Davis plays (or we don’t receive word in time), Anderson is still playable against a Houston team that ranks dead last against opposing power forwards. Obviously, his upside would be unleash if given the starting role, but keep in mind that Anderson hit 30+ fantasy points in two of the last four games off the bench.
5 - Zach LaVine – SG – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $5,200)
LaVine is finally starting and seeing consistent minutes around 35+. That makes him a safe fantasy commodity with upside if his shot is falling. The matchup against Washington is great, as this is expected to be a competitive, high-scoring game (220 over/under), and the Wizards rank 26th against opposing shooting guards. Feel free to deploy LaVine in all formats, as his price is too cheap considering his recently expanded role.
6 - Will Barton – SG – Denver (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Will Barton was an extremely popular pick on Monday, as many people expected a huge fantasy outing with Danilo Gallinari out. Barton disappointed with only 19 fantasy points that night, but his matchup this evening (vs the Lakers) is a much better game environment to post some upside. Gallinari is still out, and now Kenneth Faried is questionable. If Faried sits, Barton could see a few more minutes, usage, and rebounds in this dream matchup.
7 - Darrell Arthur – PF – Denver (FanDuel Price: $3,700)
Speaking of the Nuggets’ injury situations, Darrell Arthur has been seeing 27-30 minutes per contest with Danilo Gallinari out. He would likely see even more playing time if Kenneth Faried (questionable) doesn’t suit up. Keep an eye on this development, as Arthur would become a solid play in all formats against a porous Lakers frontcourt if handed the starting role. UPDATE: Kenneth Faried is now considered probable. Arthur retreats back to “tournament only” consideration.
8 - Jordan Clarkson – SG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Notice that I have Zach LaVine and Will Barton as better value plays at the shooting guard position. However, while assembling multiple tournament lineups, I’ll certainly have exposure to Jordan Clarkson. Kobe Bryant is back, but Lou Williams will not play tonight, which is good news for Clarkson’s minutes/usage. The matchup is great as well, considering that Denver ranks 27th against opposing backcourt members.
9 - Jerryd Bayless – PG – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $4,300)
Here’s another injury situation to monitor, as Michael Carter-Williams is questionable. He missed last game, allowing Bayless to start and record 29 fantasy points in 35 minutes. He could potentially replicate that production if MCW sits, as his opponent, Indiana has been struggling against point guards as of late (ranked 18th vs PGs overall this season).
10 - P.J. Hairston – SF – Memphis (FanDuel Price: $3,600)
Tony Allen is questionable tonight, and he has missed the previous five games due to a persisting knee issue. If he’s out again, P.J. Hairston will continue to log around 30 minutes in the starting lineup. He has recorded 23+ fantasy points in three of the past four games within that role, and a matchup against the fast-paced Kings inspires confidence for more of the same. If that happens, he’d provide value beyond this near-minimum price tag.
Julius Randle – PF – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Jabari Parker – PF – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
J.J. Redick – SG – LA Clippers (FanDuel Price: $4,900)
