FanDuel Fades: April 9

by Michael Finewax
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

I’m going to give you some fades as these players either should not be in your lineup or tread carefully if you want them on your FanDuel squad. We will also be updating the goaltending matchups at the bottom of the column all season (up to the 7pm start times for most lineups) so check the column and Rotoworld’s daily blurbs for the latest updates.

Don't be surprised if a lot of veterans are sitting out today. It could be a good night to pick some fourth liners who will get a lot more ice time than usual.

Editor's Note: This is your chance to try FanDuel risk free! Sign up today and if you lose your first contest, you’ll be refunded the entry fee up to $10. Play now.

Corey Crawford G (Chicago) - $9,200

It's Crawford's first game back and he hasn't played since March 14 so I wouldn't take a chance on him tonight. The Blackhawks just want him to get some game action so don't expect miracles. Of course saying that, he'll probably get a shutout.

Ryan Miller(Vancouver) - $8,800

Miller gave up seven goals on Thursday after a couple of wins the previous week. But Miller has not had a good season and could be a non-factor the rest of his career. The Oilers can score so don't be surprised if if they pump more than three goals past Miller.

Drew Doughty D (Los Angeles) - $6,100

Doughty is having an outstanding season but has only three points in his last seven games. The defenseman will receive plenty of play for the Norris Trophy and deservedly so, but he is not necessarily the best play on Saturday as far as fantasy hockey is concerned.

Justin Faulk D (Carolina) - $4,700

Faulk returned to the Carolina lineup on March 24 after missing 18 of 19 games but he hasn't been setting the world on fire as the defenseman has only a goal and three points with a minus-five rating in eight games. Faulk got off to an amazing start, especially in power play goals but has been only ordinary at best since the start of 2016.

Jason Pominville RW (Minnesota) - $5,700

Pominville is having the worst season of his career as he has only 11 goals and 36 points, including only three assists in his last 10 games. The former Sabre is capable of breaking out at any time but he sure has not done it a lot this season.

Troy Brouwer RW (St. Louis) -$5,500

Brouwer has been got of late with three goals and six points in his last five games but I think the streak will end tonight. On the season he has only 18 goals and 39 points in 81 games so the asking price on FanDuel is reflective of the last five games rather than the whole season.

Ondrej Palat LW (Tampa Bay) - $6,200

It has been a tough season for Palat as he has been hurt and even when he has been on the ice, he has not performed like last season. He has only two assists in his last five games and has 15 goals and 38 points with a plus-10 rating after a 16 goal, 63 point effort with a plus-33 rating last season. Not too bad for a seventh round pick in 2011 but still not a great season for poolies who expected more.

Antoine Roussel LW (Dallas) - $4,800

Roussel has 13 goals and 29 points this season but is known mostly for his penalty minute totals which have been near the top of the NHL in the last three years. The rugged winger has a goal and five points in his last nine games with 17 penalty minutes which doesn't make him so fantasy relevant in FanDuel.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins C (Edmonton) - $5,600

Nugent-Hopkins has been on the injured reserve list too many times this season and has played only eight games since January 18. He has three goals in those games and has played only 13 minutes in each of his last two games since returning from a concussion.

Jonathan Toews C (Chicago) - $7,100

Toews is a great hockey player and a good fantasy one. He has 28 goals and 58 points this season and he has been hot of late with three goals and eight points in his last six games. The problem tonight is that a lot of teams will rest their best players for the playoffs and Toews could get the night off.
