Fanduel Fades: December 19

I’m going to give you some fades as these players either should not be in your lineup or tread carefully if you want them on your FanDuel squad. We will also be updating the goaltending matchups at the bottom of the column all season (up to the 7pm start times for most lineups) so check the column and Rotoworld’s daily blurbs for the latest updates.

Editor's Note: This is your chance to try FanDuel risk free! Sign up today and if you lose your first contest, you’ll be refunded the entry fee up to $10. Play now.

Jeff Zatkoff G (Pittsburgh) - $8,800

Zatkoff was not good on Friday against Boston as he gave up six goals on only 34 shots. The reins will be given to Matt Murray on Saturday so Zatkoff is a bad play. He is the fourth highest valued goalie on Saturday once you get rid of the netminders on IR. Even if he did play against Carolina, he would be a mediocre play.

Cory Schneider G (New Jersey) - $8,500

Keith Kinkaid is getting a rare start in goal for the Devils so Schneider will get the best seat in the house to watch it. Schneider has been good this season for the Devils with .924 save percentage to go with 14 wins and normally we would not have him on this list but he is an obvious choice because he is not playing.

Seth Jones D (Nashville) - $5,300

It has been so long since Jones picked up a point that I had to go back to mid-November to find it. Jones has been pointless since a three point effort against the Jets, a span of 16 games. He is also a minus-seven during this time span. Pick him if you like but it’s at your own risk.

Patric Hornqvist RW (Pittsburgh) - $7,200

Hornqvist is having a terrible season with only five goals and 10 points in 31 games. His forte is scoring goals and if he can’t do that, he is not contributing. He has a goal and an assist in his last 10 games and both points came five games ago against the Avalanche.

Max Pacioretty LW (Montreal) - $9,400

Pacioretty’s stats this season look good but when you look closer at the 14 goals and 26 points in 33 games with a plus-one rating, it tells a different story. Pacioretty has a goal and no assists in his last seven games with a minus-eight rating. He is going to break out soon but it may not come against the Stars on Saturday. He is the third highest valued left winger so look for some value at this spot.

Anders Lee LW (New York Islanders) - $6,100

Lee has been scoreless in his last four games with a minus-two rating. On the season he has only four goals and 14 points in 33 games. He has a decent amount of shots on goal with 74. There are better plays than Lee in FanDuel

Ryan Getzlaf C (Anaheim) - $8,200

It seems like you can never go wrong putting Getzlaf on this list this season as the talented center has only a goal and 18 points in 26 games. While those stats are okay, they do not warrant paying $8,200 for the center. He has a new linemate in Patrick Maroon Saturday.

Eric Staal C (Carolina) - $7,900

Perhaps I should not be putting Staal on this list as every time I do, he seems to do well. But he certainly is not worth $7,900 as he has only five goals and 18 points in 32 games. He hasn’t hit the scoresheet in his last three outings so do not expect a lot out of Staal on Saturday versus the Penguins.
