Welcome to FanDuel Fades where we highlight players you might want to avoid tonight. You'll also find a list of probable goaltenders below.
Eric Staal (MIN) - C - $5,600
Staal's having a big comeback season and he was particularly effective from Dec. 11 through Jan. 14 with nine goals and 21 points in 15 games. Unfortunately he's gone cold with a goal and three points in his last 10 contests. He should bounce back again, but this is a stretch where it's best to avoid him.
Corey Perry (ANA) - W - $6,500
Perry's been quiet lately with a goal and two assists in his last nine games. All-in-all this season he's averaged 11.1 FanDuel points per game, which isn't great at that price point.
Daniel Sedin (VAN) - W - $6,000
With a 9.7 FanDuel average, Sedin typically hasn't been a good investment for that price. Things have only been bleaker for him over the last month and a half as he's been limited to a goal and six points over his last 19 games.
Shea Weber (MON) - D - $5,900
Weber has 12 goals and 31 points in 54 games this season, but those strong numbers are largely thanks to his strong start to the campaign. More recently he has two goals and three points in his last 12 contests.
Victor Rask (CAR) - C - $5,000
Rask is having a decent season given his price point, but he's stuck in a prolonged cold streak. He's gone nine straight games without recording a single point, which is his longest slump since Dec. 4 through Jan. 4 in 2014-15.
James Neal (NAS) - W - $6,700
Neal has 17 goals and 24 points in 43 games, but the vast majority of that came from Oct. 29 through Dec. 20 when he scored 14 goals and 19 points in 21 contests. Since then he has just three goals and an assist in 15 games.
Calvin Pickard (COL) - G - $7,400
Pickard is expected to get the start on Tuesday, but I'd pass on him in spite of how cheap he is relative to other goaltenders. He's having a rough campaign with a 8-14-1 record, 3.05 GAA, and .903 save percentage in 25 contests and he'll be up against the Montreal Canadiens, which rank eighth in terms of goals for per game. For what it's worth, Pickard also surrendered four goals on 20 shots over 27:12 minutes when he last faced Montreal on Dec. 10.
Victor Hedman (TBL) - D - $6,300
Hedman had a three-point game on Jan. 31, but he's also been held off the scoresheet in six of his last seven games. The Lightning will also be up against Los Angeles tonight, which has the fourth lowest goals against per game in the league.
Derick Brassard (OTT) - C - $5,500
Brassard's average of 9.5 FanDuel points per game has left something to be desired this season at that price point. The Senators are playing against St. Louis, which has been a plus for teams for most of the season given the Blues' goaltending woes. However, with the Blues' making Mike Yeo their new head coach and naming Martin Brodeur and Ty Conklin as their new goalie coaches, they're more of an unknown for now. For what it's worth, the Blues have allowed five goals in three games since the switch.
Tanner Pearson (LAK) - W - $5,300
Pearson has enjoyed some hot patches this season, but he certainly isn't in one of them now. He hasn't registered a point in his last four games and he has just two goals and three points in his last 11 contests.
