FanDuel MLB Bargains: Saturday

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, we'll typically focus on hitters who are $3,200 or lower. In general, we'll only highlight players at the top end of that scale if they have star potential.

Please note, these player picks were organized early in the day. For MLB contests, always check lineups and weather closer to game time. Rain, wind, or unexpected managerial decisions could open up additional sources of value. Be sure to keep an eye on the MLB Headlines and Injuries desk. You can double check that your players are in the starting lineup by viewing our MLB Lineups page later in the day.

We are focusing on tonight’s main (five game) slate starting at 7:15 ET.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Brian McCann – C – Houston (FanDuel Price: $3,000)

This is probably one of the easiest picks within this slate. Not only is McCann a headline play for the highest projected scoring team of the night, the catcher position doesn’t offer any confident alternatives. Facing Texas RHP Andrew Cashner (.366 wOBA, 1.48 HR/9) in hitter-friendly Globe Life Park is an excellent landing spot for fantasy success. Even though Cashner has been overachieving with a 2.92 ERA this season, regression could come crashing down against one of the strongest offenses in all of baseball. To make matters even better, the Rangers’ bullpen ranks bottom five in FIP and WHIP at the moment.

2 - Lucas Duda – 1B – NY Mets (FanDuel Price: $2,800)

Duda spent nearly a month on the disabled list this season, returning to action on May 12. He’s fully healthy at the moment and really finding his groove as a result. Duda has racked up 16 hits, six homers, and 14 RBI over the past 11 games, reaching base to make some fantasy noise with regularity. Tonight’s matchup against subpar Pittsburgh RHP Tyler Glasnow (6.95 ERA) maintains that notion.

3 - Kevin Kiermaier – OF – Tampa Bay (FanDuel Price: $3,100)

Even though this is a modest five-game slate, we still have plenty of viable outfielders to choose from. Don’t let the red-hot likes of Kevin Kiermaier get pushed out of consideration. The matchup isn’t bad against Seattle’s young RHP Sam Gaviglio, who has surrendered a ton of contact through three starts this season. Kiermaier is hitting out of his mind lately, collecting 15 hits, four homers, seven RBI, seven runs, and two stolen bases over his past nine starts.

4 - Gregory Polanco – OF – Pittsburgh (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

The Pirates could make a decent, sneaky-stack this evening. They don’t have an impressive run total compared to Houston, Boston, Tampa, or New York, but targeting against NYM pitcher Robert Gsellman and his 5.75 ERA isn’t a bad situation to cherry-pick hitters. Polanco is an outfielder I’m keeping on my short list, holding a reasonable salary with HR/SB upside. As a nice boost, the Mets’ bullpen currently ranks bottom ten in WHIP and FIP this season.

5 - Asdrubal Cabrera – SS – NY Mets (FanDuel Price: $3,100)

This is probably more of a tournament pick than anything. Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts are the top plays at shortstop (especially Correa). However, if you find yourself pinching pennies to make an ideal lineup mesh, I don’t mind taking the discount with Cabrera. The Mets’ shortstop has been on a nice little run with seven hits over his past five games. As I mentioned earlier, the draw against Pittsburgh RHP Tyler Glasnow (6.95 ERA) is a favorable spot to attack.
