FanDuel MLB Bargains: Saturday

by Spencer Limbach
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, we'll typically focus on hitters who are $3,200 or lower. In general, we'll only highlight players at the top end of that scale if they have star potential.

Please note, these player picks were organized early in the day. For MLB contests, always check lineups and weather closer to game time. Rain, wind, or unexpected managerial decisions could open up additional sources of value. Be sure to keep an eye on the MLB Headlines and Injuries desk. You can double check that your players are in the starting lineup by viewing our MLB Lineups page later in the day.

We are focusing on tonight’s main slate starting at 7:05 ET.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Mike Napoli – 1B – Texas (FanDuel Price: $2,900)

Texas checks in with the second highest run-scoring projection of this evening slate, marginally trailing the Rockies in Coors Field. That makes the Rangers an excellent place to scrounge for value, and Napoli is a nice place to start. Sure, the first base position is very competitive, but this Texas slugger offers enticing “per dollar” upside against White Sox LHP Derek Holland (.387 wOBA 2.22 HR/9 vs RHB) in hitter-friendly Globe Life Park.

2 - Marwin Gonzalez – SS – Houston (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

Marwin has been somewhat quiet over the past week, but I’m expecting him to pick things up tonight. The Houston switch-hitter has been a beast at home this season, taking full advantage of Minute Maid Park’s generosity to left-handed power. That could be on full display against mediocre Oakland RHP Kendall Graveman, who occasionally struggles with the deep ball.

3 - Delino DeShields – OF – Texas (FanDuel Price: $2,900)

Back to the Rangers we go! As mentioned earlier, Texas has a lofty run-scoring projection that bodes well for fantasy purposes. DeShields will likely be hitting leadoff against a left-handed pitcher, making him a strong value selection through all formats. Not only does he have excellent lineup security with a nice matchup, but Delino has been swinging a confident bat as of late.

4 - Ender Inciarte – OF – Atlanta (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

Inciarte has kicked things into gear lately, collecting 12 hits, two homers, six runs, and three stolen bases over a seven game hitting streak. Facing subpar Cincinnati RHP Robert Stephenson and his generous .413 wOBA vs left-handed bats doesn’t pose much of a threat to discontinue those hot-hitting ways. The Atlanta leadoff man is begging for your fantasy consideration through all formats.

5 - Julio Teheran – SP – Atlanta (FanDuel Price: $6,600)

This is more of a tournament play than anything else, as Teheran’s cheap salary will allow you to invest in top-dollar hitters elsewhere. It has been a disappointing season for the Atlanta “ace”, who owns a shaky 4.98 overall ERA. However, a quality start earlier this week in Colorado was encouraging, and hopefully he can carry that momentum into a home draw vs a much less imposing Cincinnati offense.

ALSO CONSIDER

Another outfield pick: Howie Kendrick ($2700) should enjoy a premium lineup spot while facing San Diego LHP Travis Wood and his .394 wOBA vs RHB this season … Another righty looking to feast on left-handed pitching, Avisail Garcia has a nice draw against Texas LHP Martin Perez (assuming he plays – dealing with a wrist injury). His teammate, catcher Kevan Smith ($2100) is a cheap lift with some power while owning that same platoon advantage.
