FanDuel MLB Bargains: Saturday

by Spencer Limbach
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, we'll typically focus on hitters who are $3,200 or lower. In general, we'll only highlight players at the top end of that scale if they have star potential.

Please note, these player picks were organized early in the day. For MLB contests, always check lineups and weather closer to game time. Rain, wind, or unexpected managerial decisions could open up additional sources of value. Be sure to keep an eye on the MLB Headlines and Injuries desk. You can double check that your players are in the starting lineup by viewing our MLB Lineups page later in the day.

We are focusing on tonight’s main slate starting at 7:05 ET.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Albert Pujols – 1B – LA Angels (FanDuel Price: $3,100)

Even though Pujols tops the bargain rankings, he’s not necessarily a must play within this deep first base position. However, if you are looking for savings away from Goldschmidt/Reynolds, Pujols is an excellent pick without skimping on upside. The legend is rounding into another patented hotstreak, racking up six hits, two homers, four runs, and eight RBI over the past two games. A welcoming matchup vs A.J. Griffin (5.26 ERA) parlayed with a park upgrade in Texas should be enough to keep Pujols going.

2 - Salvador Perez – C – Kansas City (FanDuel Price: $2,400)

Perez has struggled since coming off the disabled list nearly two weeks ago. As a result, the price is starting to bottom out, meaning we can look for a buy-low opportunity. Perez has dominated Minnesota pitching throughout his career, so facing the Twins at Target Field could prompt a much needed bounce-back performance. While Minnesota RHP Kyle Gibson has pitched better as of late, I’m not buying it. Gibson has been inconsistent all year, resulting in a 5.59 ERA and several trips to the minors. His .377 wOBA 1.70 HR/9 splits vs right-handed bats feeds into Salvy’s wheelhouse quite well.

3 - Steve Pearce – OF – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $2,800)

Pearce hasn’t made much fantasy noise over the past week, but he has an excellent chance to break the silence tonight. The Toronto righty owns a solid track record against left-handed pitching, something that should come in handy vs Baltimore LHP Wade Miley (.387 wOBA 1.67 HR) … You could also look towards Jose Bautista ($2900) of the Jays in this draw.

4 - Carlos Gomez – OF – Texas (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

This Rangers-Angels tilt projects as one of the top scoring games of the night (right alongside Colorado-Arizona in Coors Field). Gomez could fall into that fantasy-friendly environment, especially considering a generous matchup vs RHP Ricky Nolasco (.384 wOBA 2.60 HR/9 splits vs RHB this season) … Second baseman Rougned Odor ($2900) is another potential bargain within this Rangers’ lineup.

5 - Luis Valbuena – 3B – LA Angels (FanDuel Price: $3,100)

You could roll with Mike Moustakas at the same position for the same price, and I wouldn’t argue against it. I’ll likely be holding shares of Valbuena and “Mous” throughout majority of my lineups. Valbuena really intrigues me in this spot, playing for a top projected offense with a park boost going against AJ Griffin’s .396 wOBA 2.80 HR/9 splits vs left-handed bats.
