I hope everyone had a great All-Star Break but we’re back to the DFS grind on FanDuel and there is plenty of games to evaluateon this huge schedule filled with night games. Let’s take a lookat the top plays at each position and see if we can put together a winning lineup. Make sure to double check the weather on the RotoGrinders’ Weather Page before making your lineups!
Corey Kluber - Cleveland Indians- $11,500 - There are several very appealing options on the mound today, but I’ll be looking to get plenty of exposure to Corey Kluber. After a somewhat sluggish start to the season, the former Cy Young winner has been down-right nasty since returning to the Cleveland rotation back in early June (thanks to a lower back injury). Since his return he's posted a ridiculous 1.29 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and racked up 82 strikeouts in just 56 innings of work in eight starts. He tossed six shutout innings against and also picked up ten strikeouts when he faced this Oakland team earlier this season and should benefit from the spacious pitching environment at the Oakland Coliseum.
Oakland Athletics vs. RHP in 2017: 0.32 wOBA: 0.197 ISO: 0.256 K%: 102 wRC+
Jimmy Nelson - Milwaukee Brewers- $9,100 - For several years, Jimmy Nelson has flashed some serious potential in the Milwaukee rotation, but 2017 looks to be the year he's finally putting everything together and taking claim to the role as their Ace. Nelson will take the Miller Park mound tonight owning a very impressive 3.30 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 109 innings of work. He's been even more dominant in front of the Milwaukee faithful as he's posted a 2.35 ERA in his ten home starts. With an xFIP matching his ERA (3.30 xFIP), it's reasonable to expect more of the same going forward and tonight's matchup against MLB's worst team (Philadelphia) is too good to ignore.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. RHP in 2017: 0.301 wOBA: 0.144 ISO: 0.239 K%: 83 wRC+
Willson Contreras - Chicago Cubs - $3,200 - Joe Madden tinkered with his lineup (once again) in the first game out of the break, and Willson Contreras was the main beneficiary as he found himself in the cleanup spot. He didn't disappoint as he launched a three-run home run in the first inning and is swinging one of the hottest bats in all of MLB right now. Contreras owns a .353 average and 1.040 OPS during the month of July and has posted a .363 wOBA against left-handed pitching thus far this season. With the Cubs owning one of the highest implied run totals on the board and Wade Miley struggling mightily on the mound (4.97 ERA and a .373 wOBA allowed against right-handed batters), Contreras looks well underpriced at just $3.2K.

Buster Posey - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.36 wOBA, 0.141 ISO, 125 wRC+
Brian McCann - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.311 wOBA, 0.141 ISO, 94 wRC+
Yasmani Grandal - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.341 wOBA, 0.21 ISO, 113 wRC+
Jonathan Lucroy - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.292 wOBA, 0.127 ISO, 75 wRC+
Mike Zunino - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.368 wOBA, 0.304 ISO, 135 wRC+
Logan Morrison - Tampa Bay Rays - $3,600 - Logan Morrison cooled off as the All-Star Break neared, but the 29-year-old is still in the midst of his best offensive season to date. He's launched 24 home runs and posted an impressive .396 wOBAand .340 ISO against right-handed pitching this season. Tonight, he has an ideal matchup awaiting him as JC Ramirez has been highly inconsistent all season and has really struggled with left-handed batters this season as lefties own a .381 wOBA and a troubling 45.8% hard-hit rate against him. LoMo took him deep in their only previous meeting this season and comes at a very reasonable asking price.
2017 vs. RHP : 0.389 wOBA, 0.333 ISO, 148 wRC+
Paul Goldschmidt - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.445 wOBA, 0.306 ISO, 171 wRC+
Anthony Rizzo - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.42 wOBA, 0.321 ISO, 160 wRC+
Cody Bellinger - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.394 wOBA, 0.367 ISO, 148 wRC+
Danny Valencia - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.359 wOBA, 0.147 ISO, 129 wRC+
Mike Napoli - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.314 wOBA, 0.281 ISO, 90 wRC+
Paul DeJong - St. Louis Cardinals - $2,800 - Surprisingly, there wasn't a hotter hitter on the planet entering the All-Star Break than Cardinals rookie Paul DeJong. While it's unlikely to last too long, the Cardinal's new second baseman rather quietly owns a very impressive .313 average and .933 OPS through 128 at bats at the MLB level. Tonight, he has a nice matchup awaiting him against the struggling Chad Kuhl who owns an ugly 4.96 ERA and whose 4.76 xFIP (4.88 SIERA) doesn't imply much improvement is the near future. DeJong has seen his asking price slowly climb, but he's still very reasonably priced considering the production and the cost savings here will help you afford one of the many aces on the mound. Update: Jameson Taillon will start for Pittsburgh, this is a tougher matchup and makes DeJong better suited for GPP use only.
2017 vs. RHP : 0.367 wOBA, 0.276 ISO, 127 wRC+
Jose Altuve - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.405 wOBA, 0.191 ISO, 159 wRC+
Daniel Murphy - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.4 wOBA, 0.237 ISO, 146 wRC+
Josh Harrison - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.33 wOBA, 0.136 ISO, 104 wRC+
Javier Baez - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.334 wOBA, 0.273 ISO, 104 wRC+
Corey Seager - Los Angeles Dodgers - $3,800 - Seager kicked off the second half of the MLB season in style as he uncorked his 14th home run of the season as the Dodgers picked up their 62 win of the season. Seager now owns a .902 OPS on the season and has posted a very solid .370 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Marlins starter Jose Urena owns a troubling 5.45 xFIP this season and his .245 BABIP is unsustainably low. With left-handed batters owning a .338 wOBA off of Urena during his life in the big leagues, Seager is a top-tier option at the rather thin shortstop position.
2017 vs. RHP : 0.371 wOBA, 0.198 ISO, 133 wRC+
Carlos Correa - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.392 wOBA, 0.253 ISO, 149 wRC+
Jean Segura - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.36 wOBA, 0.089 ISO, 129 wRC+
Elvis Andrus - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.32 wOBA, 0.184 ISO, 94 wRC+
Dansby Swanson - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.373 wOBA, 0.217 ISO, 130 wRC+
Jake Lamb - Arizona Diamondbacks - $3,700 - Jake Lamb's hot start to the season has dwindled to some degree, but the 26-year-old will step into the batter's box tonight owning an imposing .922 OPS with 20 home runs as we exit the All-Star break. He owns a .414 wOBA and .284 ISO this season against right-handed pitching which bodes well for him in tonight as Mike Foltynewicz has been pounded for a .371 wOBA against left-handed hitters this season. Foltynewicz has long been susceptible to the long-ball during his brief MLB career, and Lamb certainly has the power to make him pay for any mistakes in a hurry.
2017 vs. RHP : 0.412 wOBA, 0.282 ISO, 150 wRC+
Miguel Sano - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.367 wOBA, 0.247 ISO, 128 wRC+
Kris Bryant - 2017 vs. LHP : 0.444 wOBA, 0.333 ISO, 176 wRC+
Matt Carpenter - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.37 wOBA, 0.232 ISO, 129 wRC+
Jose Ramirez - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.429 wOBA, 0.305 ISO, 171 wRC+
Nelson Cruz - Seattle Mariners - $4,300 - Cruz won't come cheap, but he's always a top-notch option in the outfield when he's facing a left-handed pitcher. He'll enter tonight's game owning a .375 average and 1.173 OPS thus far during the month of July and has posted an incredible .394 wOBA and .258 ISO during his career against southpaws. Derek Holland has allowed an unsightly .386 wOBA and 40.9% hard-hit rate to right-handed batters this season and Cruz has crushed him in the past; going 6 for 23 with three home runs in their previous meetings.
2017 vs. LHP : 0.385 wOBA, 0.194 ISO, 146 wRC+
Matt Kemp - Atlanta Braves - $2,700 - It's been a roller-coaster type season for Matt Kemp, but he looks like a fine option tonight considering the matchup and cheap asking price. Kemp jump-started the Atlanta offense last night with an RBI single in the first inning and owns a solid .292 average and .822 OPS on the season. Kemp has earned a track record for smashing left-handed pitching (.394 career wOBA) and Patrick Corbin has surrendered a .340 wOBA to right-handed batters this season. As Atlanta's cleanup hitter, Kemp should easily exceed value at this price point.
2017 vs. LHP : 0.334 wOBA, 0.163 ISO, 104 wRC+
Bryce Harper - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.457 wOBA, 0.339 ISO, 184 wRC+
George Springer - 2017 vs. RHP : 0.394 wOBA, 0.282 ISO, 151 wRC+
