We have a full slate of games on tap today and all 15 games are being played in the evening slate. Despite the large number of games, there are few aces on the mound tonight, which makes it a little easier to fit some of the more expensive hitters into your FanDuel lineup. That may not be a bad thing, as we have another game in Coors Field between the Padres and Rockies.
Francisco Liriano: $8,400 (vs. Chicago Cubs)
Liriano has pitched well in his first two starts of the season, as he has struck out more batters (14) than he’s allowed on base (10). Liriano is a high-strikeout pitcher that has great splits at PNC Park over the last two seasons. He does walk quite a few batters, but the Cubs aren’t exactly a patient team at the plate. They are ready to swing right when they step into the batter’s box. There aren’t any huge favorites on the mound tonight, so with Liriano being a -140 favorite in the MLB odds, he’s a terrific option in all league formats.
Editor's Note: Play one-day fantasy baseball for cash! FanDuel is hosting a $125,000 league for Tuesday’s MLB games. It's just $2 to join and first place wins $10,000. Starts tonight at 7:05pm ET. Enter now!
Derek Norris: $3,000 (vs. Tyler Matzek)
The Padres wasted little time taking advantage of the Coors Field effect, as they scored 14 runs in the first game of their series against the Rockies. The Padres face another left-handed pitcher tonight in Tyler Matzek, who gave up a .372 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season. Norris had a huge outing in Coors last night and he will be the most popular target (for good reason) at catcher tonight.
Justin Morneau: $4,000 (vs. Brandon Morrow)
Sticking with the Coors Field theme, Morneau is the top cash game play at first base. The Rockies are small favorites tonight in a game that features a total of 10.0 runs. As usual, it’s a great strategy to stack both teams in Coors, even in cash games. Morneau has a favorable matchup against Brandon Morrow, who gave up a .412 wOBA to batters from the left side of the plate last season.
Brian Dozier: $3,000 (vs. Jason Vargas)
It would be easy to list the Coors Field options at every position, but I’ll mix it up a bit at second base with Dozier. He is very affordable on FanDuel and he has had great success against left-handed pitching throughout his career. He finished 2014 with a .351 wOBA and a .203 ISO against southpaws. Meanwhile, his opponent, Jason Vargas, gave up a .321 wOBA to batters from the right side of the plate.
Will Middlebrooks: $3,300 (vs. Tyler Matzek)
Back to Coors Field! Middlebrooks has fit in nicely with his new team, batting 13-for-54 with 7 extra-base hits and 11 RBIs. He is one of the many right-handed hitters that are in play tonight against Tyler Matzek in Coors. As mentioned above, Matzek gave up a .372 wOBA to batters that hit from the right side of the plate last season.
Troy Tulowitzki: $5,500 (vs. Brandon Morrow)
There won’t be many times that I will go out of my way to target Tulowitzki at $5,500 against a right-handed pitcher, but tonight is one of them. Shortstop is easily the thinnest position on the board and the difference between Tulowitzki and the other options is massive. Tulowitzki loves playing at Coors Field, as he posted an incredible .530 wOBA at home last season.
Additional Plays: Daniel Santana, Erick Aybar
Adam Jones: $5,100 (vs. Mark Buehrle)
Jones and left-handed pitching is a match made in heaven. He finished 2014 with a .434 wOBA and a .260 ISO against southpaws and he’s back at it again this season with a whopping .907 wOBA. He draws a favorable matchup against Mark Buehrle and he sees a ballpark boost with this game being played in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. If you are paying up for an outfielder outside of Coors Field, it should be Jones.
Matt Kemp: $4,300 (vs. Tyler Matzek)
Kemp is going to be one of the most popular plays at any position tonight on FanDuel. He is coming off of a 3-for-4 outing with 3 RBIs and 3 runs in last night’s win over the Rockies. His price is still only $4,300 and he draws a favorable matchup against Tyler Matzek in Coors Field. Don’t overthink this one; get Kemp in your cash game lineups tonight.
Christian Yelich: $3,200 (vs. Jerome Williams)
In daily fantasy baseball, we like to look for underpriced batters and those that are in favorable matchups. Yelich has both of those in his favor tonight against Jerome Williams and the Phillies. Yelich has a depressed price point of $3,200. He’s one of the better values on the board, as he can hit for average, he can hit for power, and he can steal bases.
