When looking at bargains on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower. I’ll be ranking these picks by priority to your lineups for tonight’s nine-game slate starting at 7:00 ET.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays.
1 – Dragan Bender – PF – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $3,500)
Marquese Chriss has been ruled out tonight, meaning Bender should be promoted to the starting lineup with 30-32+ minutes. That makes him an exceptional bargain on FanDuel with a near-minimum salary. Bender filled in when Chriss left early last game, racking up 43 fantasy points in 39 minutes. This Houston-Phoenix matchup represents the best fantasy atmosphere of the night with a 227 over/under. Bender should easily find value within that.
2 – Will Barton – SG – Denver (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Will Barton has struggled in his past two games, but there’s a prime bounce-back opportunity tonight. Gary Harris has been ruled out, so Barton should see plenty of minutes and opportunities to fill up the stat-sheet. The salary has fallen based on those subpar recent performances, and tonight makes for an excellent buy-low opportunity.
3 – Gerald Green – SF – Houston (FanDuel Price: $4,800)
Gerald Green will continue to see around 30 minutes for the shorthanded Rockets. He has met value with 25+ fantasy points in four of his past five, even hitting upside with 36 FP in two of those contests. He’s looking at an outstanding matchup playing up in pace against a Phoenix team that ranks 20th vs small forwards and 28th in overall team defensive efficiency.
4 – Tyler Ulis – PG – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $4,900)
This recommendation is somewhat injury contingent. Isaiah Canaan is listed as questionable tonight. If he misses his third straight game, Tyler Ulis becomes a strong value candidate. Ulis has averaged 33 minutes and 24 fantasy points over the past two with Canaan out of the lineup. That’s a substantial uptick from his usual 22-25 minute role when Canaan is in the mix. Pay attention to the news feed to see if we can get any definitive word before lineups lock.
UPDATE: Canaan is now listed as probable. Tyler Ulis falls out of DFS consideration in the wake of this news.
5 – Derrick Favors – PF – Utah (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Derrick Favors is listed as probable tonight, and I believe he’s a confident fantasy option. Utah will lean heavily on him with Rudy Gobert still sidelined. On top of that, Charlotte ranks 21st in defensive efficiency against opposing power forwards. At this salary, you are looking for Favors to post at least 30 fantasy points for a solid return. He has been at that level in each of his six previous games.
If you need even more value, you can pivot to Ryan Anderson ($4300) as a cheaper option than Favors. Granted, Anderson comes with much less security, but he’ll see 30+ minutes in an excellent game environment at Phoenix. A $1700 discount can really help the rest of your lineup, especially if Tyler Ulis doesn’t work out as a value commodity.
Devin Booker, Will Barton, Tyreke Evans, and Donovan Mitchell are some of my favorite overall plays at shooting guard. However, Kent Bazemore ($5400) is substantially cheaper with a better matchup than all of those guys. His fantasy profile is somewhat shaky, but we should see his good side while playing up in pace against a bad Nets’ defense.
