When looking at “bargains” on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.
We have another three-game playoff slate upon us, meaning I will be ranking the top five bargains by priority to your FanDuel NBA lineups.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays.
1 - Shaun Livingston – PG – Golden State (FanDuel Price: $4,400)
With Stephen Curry out for at least a few weeks, we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of Shaun Livingston. He has been a solid fantasy play regardless of Curry’s presence, but the production and minutes are obviously safer with the reigning MVP sidelined. Expect another 25-30 minutes along with 25-30 fantasy points from Livingston; good enough to call him our favorite bargain of the day.
2 - Austin Rivers – PG – LA Clippers (FanDuel Price: $4,000)
Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are out, and Rivers has been named the starter. He should see 30+ minutes with a high usage clip as well. I’m usually skeptical of Rivers’ FP/minute efficiency, but he has somewhat alleviated those concerns with some very promising outings while taking over for CP3 at certain times throughout the regular season. On this short, three-game slate, he’s a very solid value play in conjunction with Livingston.
3 - Al-Farouq Aminu – SF – Portland (FanDuel Price: $6,000)
Aminu is really finding his groove in this series. He was averaging a solid 27 FPPG through the first three games, then he broke out for a whopping 52 FP performance on Monday. I’m not sure we’ll see upside like that from him ever again, but it’s nice to know he has that ability to combine with his already sufficient floor of 25-27+ FP.
4 - Mason Plumlee – C – Portland (FanDuel Price: $6,100)
For me, the center position is pretty straightforward. If you have the cap space, look to DeAndre Jordan, as he should see a rebounding/usage uptick with Blake Griffin out. If you can’t afford him, pivot down to Mason Plumlee and feel confident in that selection. Plumlee has actually been just as good of a fantasy contributor as DeAndre in this series, marking 46, 45, and 36 fantasy points respectively over the past three. The Clippers ranked in the bottom ten in rebound rate and defensive efficiency against opposing big men during the regular season, and Plumlee should continue to exploit that susceptibility.
5 - Jamal Crawford – SG – LA Clippers (FanDuel Price: $4,800)
There’s a gaping hole left in the Clippers’ usage with Blake Griffin and Chris Paul out. Crawford is a prime candidate to eat up those shots and ball-handling responsibilities, likely floating between SG and PG in tonight’s game. He should see around 35 minutes (a little more than usual), and the expected uptick in usage makes him a prime value commodity.
