FanDuel NBA Plays: Friday

The NBA season is coming to an end quickly and this may be the last time that we have a large slate on tap with such meaningful games. This will probably be the last great night to play daily fantasy basketball before the playoffs start.

Here are my favorite FanDuel picks at each position.

Point Guard

Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder (Salary: $12300, FPPG: 49.4, MPG: 34, Usage Rate: 37.2)
The Thunder are currently tied with the Pelicans for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are in a must-win situation tonight in a favorable matchup against the Kings, who are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Tonight is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Westbrook’s depressed price tag, as he will likely have a huge outing against a Sacramento team that has been awful against point guards this season.

Ramon Sessions, Washington Wizards (Salary: $4900, FPPG: 12.3, MPG: 18, Usage Rate: 19.3)
John Wall has already been ruled out of tonight’s game, which means Sessions will draw another start at point guard. He played very well on Wednesday night, finishing with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. His price has come up on FanDuel, but he’s still very much in play as the Wizards’ starting point guard. He draws a favorable matchup against the Nets, who have been giving up a lot of points to their opponents in recent weeks.

Additional Plays: Jordan Clarkson, Deron Williams

Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors (Salary: $8600, FPPG: 31.1, MPG: 35, Usage Rate: 28.5)
Kyle Lowry is questionable for tonight’s game against the Magic, but even if he plays, he will likely see limited action. That means that we will see at least one more game where DeRozan is the first, second, and third option offensively. He has scored at least 35 fantasy points in four of his last five games and he draws a tremendous matchup against the Magic, who are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA this season.

Kevin Martin, Minnesota Timberwolves (Salary: $6800, FPPG: 28.2, MPG: 33, Usage Rate: 26.6)
Speaking of worst defensive teams in the NBA, only the Wolves have given up more points per game to their opponents than the Lakers. This game should be close and high-scoring, with very little defense being played by either team. Martin will continue to see all of the minutes that he can handle and he realistically has a chance to score 40+ fantasy points in this favorable matchup.

Additional Plays: Victor Oladipo, Bradley Beal

Small Forward

Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs (Salary: $8500, FPPG: 33.5, MPG: 32, Usage Rate: 23)
The Spurs are still fighting for playoff positioning in the Western Conference, so their starters will their usual allotment of minutes tonight against the Rockets. Leonard has been outstanding over the last month of play, averaging over 35 fantasy points per contest during that stretch. He should see 35+ minutes tonight against the Rockets, who are one of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA. Leonard is the premier play at small forward tonight.

Omri Casspi, Sacramento Kings (Salary: $4500, FPPG: 14.7, MPG: 20, Usage Rate: 17.8)
DeMarcus Cousins has already been ruled out of tonight’s game against the Thunder and it sounds like Rudy Gay may join him. Even if Gay is in the lineup, Casspi sees a huge uptick in usage with Cousins out. Casspi has been terrific over the last five games, averaging close to 30 fantasy points per contest. He should easily reach and exceed value tonight at a discounted price of only $4,500 on FanDuel.

Additional Plays: Andrew Wiggins, Rodney Hood

Power Forward

Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans (Salary: $11900, FPPG: 47.2, MPG: 36, Usage Rate: 27.6)
I typically wouldn’t recommend taking Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis in the same lineup, but I will make an exception tonight. Both players are in must-win situations and there is a TON of value available tonight, which makes it easy to fit them both without sacrificing the rest of your team. Davis should push for 40+ minutes tonight against the Suns, who are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. He’s easily the top power forward on the board.

Jason Thompson, Sacramento Kings (Salary: $4700, FPPG: 16.2, MPG: 24, Usage Rate: 12.6)
Thompson will likely be in the starting lineup again tonight with DeMarcus Cousins out. He would also see a boost if Rudy Gay is ruled out as well. Thompson is under $5,000 on FanDuel, which is extremely cheap for a starting power forward. The Thunder have struggled to contain power forwards ever since Serge Ibaka went down with his injury. Thompson has 30+ fantasy point type of upside in this favorable matchup.

Additional Plays: Markieff Morris, David West

Center

Jonas Valanciunas, Toronto Raptors (Salary: $6200, FPPG: 25.3, MPG: 27, Usage Rate: 19.3)
Amir Johnson has already been ruled out of tonight’s contest against the Magic, which solidifies the minutes for Valanciunas in the frontcourt. He draws a favorable matchup against Nikola Vucevic and the Magic, who are ranked 21st against centers this season. Valanciunas has also had a very good track record against the Magic over the last couple of seasons and his price is very affordable at $6,200.

Additional Plays: Enes Kanter, Marcin Gortat
