We have another ten-game slate on tap on FanDuel tonight, as we gear up for the weekend. There are four games with spreads of at least nine points – MIA vs. PHI, PHO vs. ORL, NY vs. BOS, and ATL vs. LAL. It should be another high scoring night, as 13 of the 20 teams in action are projected to score more points than their season averages.
Kyle Lowry vs. Portland Trail Blazers
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 22.6 | Last Five Games: 23.7
Min/Game -- Season: 37.0 | Last Five Games: 39.4
FP/Game -- Season: 39.7 | Last Five Games: 50.6
Lowry has been one of the most consistent fantasy options at any position this season. Anytime the Raptors have a high team total and the spread is relatively close on the NBA odds board, he should be on your radar in DFS. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Blazers and he should see upwards of 40 minutes in a battle between two of the best point guards in the NBA.
D'Angelo Russell vs. Atlanta Hawks
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 19.8 | Last Five Games: 23.1
Min/Game -- Season: 27.6 | Last Five Games: 32.6
FP/Game -- Season: 23.1 | Last Five Games: 35.2
Russell has really played well since entering the starting lineup. Over his last five games, he is averaging 35.2 fantasy points in 32.6 minutes per contest. With Jordan Clarkson and Kobe Bryant both questionable, Russell could see a major boost in both usage and minutes tonight. While the matchup is less than ideal, I expect Russell to be one of the highest owned players in this slate.
Value Option: Jerryd Bayless: $4,300
Khris Middleton vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 19.8 | Last Five Games: 20.9
Min/Game -- Season: 36.7 | Last Five Games: 39.9
FP/Game -- Season: 30.4 | Last Five Games: 39.5
Middleton has been on a tear over his last five games, averaging 39.5 fantasy points in 39.9 minutes per contest. Long gone are the days of us worrying about Jason Kidd’s rotation, especially since Michael Carter-Williams is doubtful for tonight’s game. Middleton should see close to 40 minutes in a game that has a sneaky high total of 213.5 points.
Will Barton vs. Brooklyn Nets
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 20.5 | Last Five Games: 21.3
Min/Game -- Season: 28.8 | Last Five Games: 30.7
FP/Game -- Season: 27.2 | Last Five Games: 24.2
Barton has let a lot of people down over the last two games. He was expected to see a major boost with Danilo Gallinari out, but so far he hasn’t lived up to expectations. I’m not jumping ship just yet, as he is still the best guard on their roster. Look for him to play minutes in the low 30s tonight against the Nets, who have not fared well against shooting guards this season.
Value Option: Zach LaVine: $5,300
LeBron James vs. Washington Wizards
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 27.5 | Last Five Games: 25.4
Min/Game -- Season: 35.9 | Last Five Games: 36.3
FP/Game -- Season: 44.2 | Last Five Games: 39.6
The Cavaliers are going to rest Kevin Love tonight, which means James and Kyrie Irving are going to have to shoulder the load offensively. Add in a discounted price point for James and he becomes close to a must start in cash games. There is some concern over a potential blowout against the Wizards, but the spread is set at only eight points. If this game stays relatively close, James could easily crack the 50 fantasy point mark.
Giannis Antetokounmpo vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 17.8 | Last Five Games: 20.1
Min/Game -- Season: 35.1 | Last Five Games: 38.8
FP/Game -- Season: 32.1 | Last Five Games: 47.2
Giannis has really flourished over his last five games, averaging 47.2 fantasy points in 38.8 minutes per contest. He should see close to 40 minutes again tonight in what should be a fast-paced game against the Wolves. The Bucks have been playing at a much quicker tempo recently, which really suits Giannis well. He is at his best when he is running the floor and making plays in transition.
Value Option: Bojan Bogdanovic: $4,000
Paul Millsap vs. Los Angeles Lakers
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 20.3 | Last Five Games: 20.9
Min/Game -- Season: 32.6 | Last Five Games: 36.0
FP/Game -- Season: 37.0 | Last Five Games: 37.4
Millsap has been flying under the radar recently, but should be one of the highest owned power forwards tonight. The Hawks draw a terrific matchup against the Lakers and the game is in Los Angeles, which should help with the blowout factor. Millsap is averaging 37.4 fantasy points over his last five games and should have his way down low against a weak Lakers’ frontcourt.
Thaddeus Young vs. Denver Nuggets
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 18.1 | Last Five Games: 16.5
Min/Game -- Season: 33.0 | Last Five Games: 35.9
FP/Game -- Season: 30.8 | Last Five Games: 35.4
Young is one of the safest plays on the board tonight. I’m always interested in targeting big men against the Nuggets, especially when the spread is close. Young comes into this game in great form, averaging 35.4 fantasy points over his last five games. He should put up a similar outing tonight, which is exactly what we are looking for from a player at his price point.
Value Option: Jabari Parker: $5,900
Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Milwaukee Bucks
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 20.1 | Last Five Games: 21.2
Min/Game -- Season: 30.8 | Last Five Games: 34.9
FP/Game -- Season: 35.0 | Last Five Games: 40.2
If you want to save at center, Alex Len is in a great spot against the Magic. However, if you can find a way to get up to Towns, I highly recommend it. He has been on fire over his last five games, averaging 40.2 fantasy points in 34.9 minutes per contest. With all of the injuries to the Wolves’ frontcourt, Towns should see minutes in the mid to high-30s in a favorable matchup against the Bucks.
Value Option: Alex Len: $5,300
Note: This is not meant to be a full lineup. The picks are my favorite targets at each position.
