We have an 11-game slate on tap tonight in the NBA. There are quite a few injuries that we need to monitor throughout the day, which should make for an interesting hour before lineups lock.
In daily fantasy basketball, you always have to be prepared to change it up at the last minute, and tonight should be a perfect example of that.
Here are the players that I am currently targeting in cash games tonight on FanDuel.
Jeff Teague, Atlanta Hawks (Salary: $8200, FPPG: 33.4, MPG: 31, Usage Rate: 25)
Teague has been one of the main reasons why the Hawks have been able to win 14 games in a row. He is playing his best basketball of the season. Over his last 10 games, he has scored at least 37 fantasy points eight times. Tonight Teague draws a favorable matchup against Russell Westbrook and the Thunder, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to point guards this season.
Langston Galloway, New York Knicks (Salary: $4600, FPPG: 21.9, MPG: 27, Usage Rate: 21.8)
After scoring 30 fantasy points in his first start with the Knicks, Galloway put on an encore performance with 33 fantasy points in his second start. He is a good rebounder for a guard, which helps his fantasy value immensely. Galloway should see 30+ minutes of action again tonight against the Magic in what is expected to be a fast-paced, high-scoring game.
James Harden, Houston Rockets (Salary: $11100, FPPG: 45.6, MPG: 36, Usage Rate: 31.4)
Harden is dealing with a minor knee injury, but is expected to play tonight against the Suns. This game features the highest total on the NBA odds board at 220 points. Targeting Harden in games that are expected to be close and high scoring is never a bad idea. He has one of the highest usage rates in the entire NBA and has huge upside against the Suns, who are ranked 18th against shooting guards this season.
Eric Gordon, New Orleans Pelicans (Salary: $5400, FPPG: 20.4, MPG: 33, Usage Rate: 18.3)
Gordon has really stepped up in Jrue Holiday’s absence. Over his last six games, he is averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists per game. His price on FanDuel has yet to reflect his recent level of production, making him a great play at a price of only $5,400. He draws a terrific matchup against the Wolves, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to shooting guards this season.
Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder (Salary: $10800, FPPG: 40.3, MPG: 32, Usage Rate: 29.3)
As long as Durant is listed under $11,000 on FanDuel, he will continue to be a staple in my cash game lineup. He is playing great basketball right now, scoring at least 46 fantasy points in five of his last six games. Tonight’s game against the Hawks is expected to be close and high scoring, two traits that we love to see in daily fantasy basketball. Durant should be locked and loaded for another big fantasy outing tonight.
Trevor Ariza, Houston Rockets (Salary: $5200, FPPG: 24.9, MPG: 36, Usage Rate: 16.8)
Small forward is a very thin position tonight. Outside of Durant, there are a lot of decent options, but none that stand out as must plays. Ariza deserves consideration for cash games, as he is a good bet to play 30+ minutes in a game that has the highest total of the night. Ariza also draws a favorable matchup against the Suns, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to small forwards this season.
Taj Gibson, Chicago Bulls (Salary: $5500, FPPG: 23.9, MPG: 29, Usage Rate: 18.3)
This pick hinges on the availability of Joakim Noah. Noah has sat out the last four games with an ankle injury. He did travel with the team for tonight’s game, but his status is certainly in doubt. If he is unable to suit up tonight, Gibson will draw another start at power forward. He has made the most of his starting opportunities this season, averaging 14 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks per game.
Brandon Bass, Boston Celtics (Salary: $4100, FPPG: 15.6, MPG: 19, Usage Rate: 22.5)
Bass received a rare start last night against the Blazers and he rewarded Coach Stevens for the decision. He finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. His strong play will likely earn him another start tonight against the Nuggets, who have a long history of struggling to defend the paint. Bass also sees a small fantasy boost if Kelly Olynyk sits out. He sprained his ankle last night and was seen leaving the stadium in crutches.
Tyson Chandler, Dallas Mavericks (Salary: $6900, FPPG: 29.5, MPG: 31, Usage Rate: 12.9)
Center has recently been an interesting position in daily fantasy basketball. There have been a ton of options on a nightly basis. Tonight is a different story though, as there isn’t a clear-cut top play at the position. For my money, Chandler is right up there as the top play at center tonight. He should see a small boost in minutes tonight, as the Bulls have one of the biggest frontcourts in the NBA. Chandler will also see a small boost if Joakim Noah is out, as Pau Gasol is not nearly as good of a defender.
