FanDuel NBA Plays: Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Not only is it the start of another weekend, but we also have a sizable ten game NBA slate on tap tonight. As always, the picks featured below are my favorite plays at each position on FanDuel. This is not meant to be an entire lineup, but rather a breakdown of my top plays. The focus here is more on cash games, but the picks can be used in tournaments as well.

Kyle Lowry vs. Orlando Magic

FD Salary:      $8,000

Usage:             20.9

Min/Game:     35.0

FP/Game:       38.5

Lowry is coming off of his worst fantasy outing of the season, but we shouldn’t be alarmed. He had his hands full with Russell Westbrook. He draws a better matchup tonight against the Magic, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to point guards this season. This is expected to be one of the fastest-paced games on the schedule tonight, which should create some easy scoring opportunities in transition.

T.J. McConnell vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

FD Salary:      $4,200

Usage:             10.2

Min/Game:     28.0

FP/Game:       24.2

Coach Brett Brown decided to shake things up in the Sixers last game by starting Jerami Grant and T.J. McConnell. The Sixers fell short of picking up their first win, but it was their best performance of the season. McConnell flirted with a triple-double in that game and his effort should earn him another start tonight. While the matchup against the Cavaliers is less than ideal, it’s hard to pass up on a starting point guard that is priced at only $4,200.

Also on the radar: Stephen Curry, John Wall

James Harden vs. Sacramento Kings

FD Salary:      $9,800

Usage:             27.9

Min/Game:     39.0

FP/Game:       40.5

Harden has basically had one good fantasy outing this season. He has really struggled with his shot and he seems to be overthinking things. Hopefully a matchup against the Kings should solve his problems. The Kings have been one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA this season and they will be without their rim protector, DeMarcus Cousins, tonight. The Rockets have the second-highest team total on the board and at a price of $9,800, Harden should be one of the highest owned players on this Friday evening slate.

Evan Fournier vs. Toronto Raptors

FD Salary:      $5,500

Usage:             19.4

Min/Game:     39.0

FP/Game:       32.2

How about the start that Fournier has had this season? In the Magic’s first five games, he has averaged 32.2 fantasy points in 39 minutes per contest. Now that Nikola Vucevic has been ruled out, that only boosts Fournier’s value, as it solidifies his minutes and his usage rate. His matchup against the Raptors isn’t the best on the board, but I will continue to ride the hot hand of the Frenchman.

Also on the radar: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Marcus Thornton

Rudy Gay vs. Houston Rockets

FD Salary:      $7,700

Usage:             22.3

Min/Game:     31.0

FP/Game:       30.6

As mentioned above, the Kings will be without DeMarcus Cousins again tonight. Gay has yet to take advantage of his absence just yet, but he has had two very tough matchups against the Grizzlies and Suns. Tonight he draws his best matchup to date, as he squares off against the up-tempo Rockets. I fully expect this to be his best fantasy outing so far this season, as he will be the focal point of the offense with Cousins out.

Marcus Morris vs. Phoenix Suns

FD Salary:      $5,800

Usage:             18.2

Min/Game:     38.0

FP/Game:       28.9

Morris is taking a trip down Narrative Street tonight. This will be his first time facing his former team, which is enough added motivation as is. Add in the fact that he will be facing his twin brother and he has all of the narratives going for him. Morris has played 38 minutes per game this season and he has made the most of his new role, averaging 28.9 fantasy points in the first four games of the season. He has a high floor and a high ceiling tonight against the Suns.

Also on the radar: Paul George, Otto Porter

Anthony Davis vs. Atlanta Hawks

FD Salary:      $10,600

Usage:             22.0

Min/Game:     37.0

FP/Game:       39.9

If Anthony Davis hasn’t burned you yet this season, then you are doing something wrong. The Pelicans just can’t seem to get off to a good start, as they constantly have to dig themselves out of large deficits. While that is a concern, Vegas expects tonight’s game against the Hawks to be a close one. Davis is the premier fantasy option at any position tonight.

Julius Randle vs. Brooklyn Nets

FD Salary:      $5,700

Usage:             20.7

Min/Game:     28.0

FP/Game:       28.3

Randle has a ton of talent and he looks like he is going to be the Lakers’ starting power forward for many years to come. He has struggled with consistency this season, but his price is still cheap enough, that I am willing to take that risk even in cash games. He draws a terrific matchup against the Nets, who have had one of the worst defenses in the NBA this season.

Also on the radar: Thaddeus Young, Aaron Gordon

Greg Monroe vs. New York Knicks

FD Salary:      $8,300

Usage:             19.8

Min/Game:     35.0

FP/Game:       39.9

Andre Drummond is going to be the chalk play at center tonight. While it’s hard to ignore the numbers that he has been putting up, he draws a very difficult matchup against Tyson Chandler. I am going to take the discount and roll out Greg Monroe against the Knicks. Monroe is averaging 39.9 fantasy points per game this season and this should be a pace-up game for the Bucks.

Also on the radar: Andre Drummond, Dewayne Dedmond
