Tonight’s slate is a little smaller than we usually have on a Friday, but there are still nine games on tap for your FanDuel contests. Even better, tonight’s slate is filled with viable value options. Scores are going to be high tonight, so make sure to be very careful when constructing your lineups, both in cash games and tournaments.
Michael Carter-Williams vs. Atlanta Hawks
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 18.5 | Last Five Games: 18.2
Min/Game -- Season: 30.6 | Last Five Games: 32.9
FP/Game -- Season: 28.2 | Last Five Games: 33.2
MCW has had two duds in his last nine games, but has otherwise been a fantasy monster. During that stretch he has topped the 33-fantasy point mark five times. Tonight’s game against the Hawks is expected to be close and high scoring, two traits that we look for in daily fantasy basketball. At $6,700, he is a little too cheap.
Beno Udrih vs. Denver Nuggets
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 13.9 | Last Five Games: 12.1
Min/Game -- Season: 14.6 | Last Five Games: 20.2
FP/Game -- Season: 9.1 | Last Five Games: 9.5
Udrih is not getting enough attention from the experts around the industry today. Many are going to see that he only had 10.5 fantasy points in his start the other night and immediately think to avoid him. However, that was a tough matchup and the more important statistic was that he played 28 minutes. If he sees that many minutes tonight against the Nuggets, he should exceed value with ease.
Monta Ellis vs. Washington Wizards
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 17.9 | Last Five Games: 18.2
Min/Game -- Season: 33.4 | Last Five Games: 35.3
FP/Game -- Season: 25.9 | Last Five Games: 27.9
Rodney Stuckey has already been ruled out of tonight’s game and George Hill could end up joining him. Hill missed shoot-around this morning and is listed as questionable. Even if Hill plays, Ellis is worth a look against the Wizards. On the season, Washington is ranked 27th against shooting guards.
Devin Booker vs. Boston Celtics
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 14.9 | Last Five Games: 18.1
Min/Game -- Season: 18.4 | Last Five Games: 32.4
FP/Game -- Season: 11.7 | Last Five Games: 26.3
Booker is in the same boat as Beno Udrih. He is getting overlooked for all the wrong reasons. While his matchup against Avery Bradley is less than ideal, his increased role in the offense more than outweighs the difficult matchup. With Ronnie Price out, Booker should see 35+ minutes in an up-tempo game against the Celtics.
Paul George vs. Washington Wizards
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 25.2 | Last Five Games: 21.9
Min/Game -- Season: 35.7 | Last Five Games: 34.4
FP/Game -- Season: 39.3 | Last Five Games: 36.0
George has been a little hit or miss recently, but he has topped at least 35 fantasy points in seven of his last ten games. He should add another one to his resume tonight, as he squares off against the Wizards, who have really had trouble defending talented wing players. George has a high floor and a high ceiling tonight at home.
Khris Middleton vs. Atlanta Hawks
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 18.7 | Last Five Games: 22.6
Min/Game -- Season: 35.6 | Last Five Games: 39.5
FP/Game -- Season: 27.9 | Last Five Games: 34.9
Middleton has been terrific over the last few weeks. In his last five games, he is averaging 34.9 fantasy points in 39.5 minutes per game. While a matchup against the Hawks may not appear favorable on paper, the Bucks’ team total is actually much higher than their average points per game this season. Continue riding the hot streak of Middleton tonight.
Paul Millsap vs. Milwaukee Bucks
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 20.4 | Last Five Games: 22.0
Min/Game -- Season: 33.0 | Last Five Games: 30.9
FP/Game -- Season: 37.6 | Last Five Games: 36.5
Millsap is one of the safest plays on the board tonight. He is a multi-dimensional player that can do a little bit of everything on the floor. He draws a fantastic matchup against the Bucks, who don’t defend the paint or rebound well. Even though his price is a little expensive, he is the top play at power forward tonight.
Tristan Thompson vs. Houston Rockets
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 10.2 | Last Five Games: 10.0
Min/Game -- Season: 28.0 | Last Five Games: 32.1
FP/Game -- Season: 21.2 | Last Five Games: 20.5
Thompson is coming off of a big outing against the Spurs in which he posted 18 points and 13 rebounds. His price is just too cheap for a matchup against the Rockets, who have been one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA this season. At his price point, he is a lock for me in cash games.
Brook Lopez vs. Portland Trail Blazers
TO-Adjusted Usage -- Season: 22.3 | Last Five Games: 21.9
Min/Game -- Season: 33.9 | Last Five Games: 33.3
FP/Game -- Season: 35.5 | Last Five Games: 35.7
Lopez seems expensive, but there really aren’t any center options that stand out as great plays. He is probably the safest of the bunch, as he has averaged 35.7 fantasy points in his last five games. He also draws a favorable matchup against the Blazers, who have not been efficient against centers this season.
Note: This is not meant to be a full lineup. The picks are my favorite targets at each position.
