FanDuel NBA Plays: Monday

As sad as it is, we still have three more days of the regular season before the NBA playoffs start. We’ve reached the time of the year where it’s critical to target players that are either 1. On a team that is still fighting for playoff positioning or 2. Are young and are guaranteed to see big minutes. Those are the two types of players that I will be heavily targeting in my FanDuel cash game lineups tonight.

Editor's Note: Play one-day fantasy basketball tonight! Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a $125,000 league for Monday’s NBA games. It's just $2 to join and first place wins $10,000. Starts tonight at 7:00pm ET. Enter now!

Point Guard

Jordan Clarkson, Los Angeles Lakers (Salary: $8000, FPPG: 20.8, MPG: 24, Usage Rate: 22.9)
Clarkson has been one of my favorite point guard targets over the last few weeks of play, even at his elevated price point. In his last eight games, he has averaged 38 fantasy points in 36 minutes per contest. With Jeremy Lin, Wayne Ellington, and Wesley Johnson all out for tonight’s game against the Kings, Clarkson should push for close to 40 minutes of playing time. I’m willing to pay a premium for Clarkson tonight, as he draws a premium matchup against the Kings, who have struggled to contain point guards all season.

Deron Williams, Brooklyn Nets (Salary: $6900, FPPG: 27.3, MPG: 31, Usage Rate: 22.4)
The Nets are currently tied with the Pacers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They do have the tiebreaker over Indiana though, so if they can win their final two games, they will assure themselves a spot in the playoffs. With everything on the line tonight, we can expect their point guard to see all of the minutes that he can handle. Williams has scored at least 30 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games and he draws a favorable matchup against Derrick Rose and the Bulls.

Additional Plays: Ray McCallum

Shooting Guard

Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat (Salary: $6800, FPPG: 32.6, MPG: 32, Usage Rate: 34.4)
The Heat are two games out of the eighth seed with two games to play. They have to be frustrated with the way that they played down the stretch of the season, but they have every reason to try for a win tonight against the Magic. Wade is extremely cheap on FanDuel at only $6,800. He has been dealing with some injuries over the last few weeks, but as long as he gets the green light to play tonight, he should be considered an elite play at shooting guard.

Jabari Brown, Los Angeles Lakers (Salary: $3800, FPPG: 14.8, MPG: 26, Usage Rate: 16.7)
Jeremy Lin, Wayne Ellington, and Wesley Johnson are all out for tonight’s game against the Kings. Brown should draw another start at shooting guard and he should push for 35+ minutes of action tonight. He is coming off of two solid outing against the Wolves and the Mavericks, averaging 27 fantasy points per contest. At a price of only $3,800, he should be able to reach and exceed value with ease. The Kings are ranked dead last against shooting guards this season.

Additional Plays: Dion Waiters, C.J. McCollum

Small Forward

Rodney Hood, Utah Jazz (Salary: $4800, FPPG: 14.7, MPG: 20, Usage Rate: 19)
Hood is playing his best basketball of the season. He has scored at least 24 fantasy points in each of his last five games, topping the 34 fantasy point mark three times during that stretch. He should see extended action again tonight against the Mavericks, who will be without Monta Ellis, Dirk Nowitzki, and Chandler Parsons. Hood offers a high floor and a high ceiling tonight, which puts him in play in both cash games and tournaments.

Omri Casspi, Sacramento Kings (Salary: $4600, FPPG: 14.9, MPG: 20, Usage Rate: 17.8)
DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay have both been ruled out for the final two games of the season, which means the Kings’ rotation players will all have to step up in their absence. Casspi has played well in his last seven games, averaging 29 fantasy points in 34 minutes per contest. He should see around 35 minutes of action again tonight, as they Kings face the Lakers, who have allowed their opponents to score the second-most points per game this season.

Additional Plays: Trevor Ariza, Tobias Harris

Power Forward

Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans (Salary: $11700, FPPG: 47.1, MPG: 36, Usage Rate: 27.6)
The Pelicans are tied with the Thunder for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They do have the tiebreaker over Oklahoma City though, so all they have to do is win out and they will be in the playoffs. In a must-win game, Davis should play close to 40 minutes tonight against the Wolves, who have one of the worst defensive frontcourts in the entire NBA. With all of the value available tonight, it’s easy to fit Davis into your cash game lineup.

Ryan Kelly, Los Angeles Lakers (Salary: $4800, FPPG: 13.3, MPG: 22, Usage Rate: 13.9)
The Lakers will be very short-handed tonight against the Kings, which means Kelly will continue to see all of the playing time that he can handle. He has played well in his last eight games, averaging 25 fantasy points in 37 minutes per contest. Kelly could see upwards of 40 minutes tonight against a Kings defense that has struggled to contain power forwards all season. He’s a low-risk, medium-reward fantasy option in both cash games and tournaments.

Additional Plays: Blake Griffin, Jason Thompson

Hassan Whiteside, Miami Heat (Salary: $7700, FPPG: 28.6, MPG: 23, Usage Rate: 20.5)
As long as Whiteside gets the green light to play tonight, he should be considered the top center option on FanDuel. He is coming off of two huge fantasy outings, scoring 38 and 48 fantasy points against the Raptors and Bulls. He draws a much more favorable matchup tonight against the Magic, who have struggled to defend the paint all season. Take advantage of the matchup and the discounted price point with Whiteside tonight against Orlando.

Additional Plays: DeAndre Jordan, Enes Kanter
