FanDuel NBA Plays: Monday

Three-game slates aren’t my favorite, but we at least have some daily fantasy basketball to make it watchable. All three of tonight’s games have spreads of at least eight points on the NBA odds board, so it’s tough to try to predict which games will turn into blowouts.

Point Guard

John Wall vs. Chicago Bulls

Salary    $9,900

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    24.4    |    Last Five Games:    24.6

Min/Game --    Season:    35.7    |    Last Five Games:    37.0

FP/Game --    Season:    40.3    |    Last Five Games:    37.2

Many people will look to pay up for Stephen Curry, but I prefer Wall tonight. Not only is he considerably cheaper, but he also draws a better matchup. On the season, the Bulls have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to point guards.

Goran Dragic vs. Golden State Warriors

Salary    $5,500

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    16.9    |    Last Five Games:    17.4

Min/Game --    Season:    32.4    |    Last Five Games:    33.5

FP/Game --    Season:    23.9    |    Last Five Games:    22.8

Dragic has seen a nice boost in minutes over the last few weeks. In his last five games, he has averaged 22.8 fantasy points in 33.5 minutes per contest. He draws the best matchup of the Heat starters, as the Warriors have struggled to contain point guards this season.

Shooting Guard

Jimmy Butler vs. Washington Wizards

Salary    $8,700

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    21.5    |    Last Five Games:    26.1

Min/Game --    Season:    37.9    |    Last Five Games:    38.1

FP/Game --    Season:    37.5    |    Last Five Games:    45.4

Butler has been tremendous over the last couple of weeks. In his last five games, he has averaged over 45 fantasy points per contest. In addition to great form, he also draws a favorable matchup. On the season, the Wizards are ranked 28th against shooting guards.

Garrett Temple vs. Chicago Bulls

Salary    $4,400

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    13.6    |    Last Five Games:    14.2

Min/Game --    Season:    23.4    |    Last Five Games:    34.1

FP/Game --    Season:    14.4    |    Last Five Games:    20.5

There is one thing that is particularly hard to come by tonight – value. With only three games, we need to take a few of the cheaper options in order to stay under the salary cap restrictions. Temple should see 30+ minutes against the Bulls, which makes him a decent value play at shooting guard.

Small Forward

Otto Porter vs. Chicago Bulls

Salary    $6,000

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    14.7    |    Last Five Games:    13.6

Min/Game --    Season:    32.4    |    Last Five Games:    35.0

FP/Game --    Season:    25.3    |    Last Five Games:    30.7

Porter has been in great form recently, averaging 30.7 minutes in his last five games. His price has come up a bit, but he should be the most popular play at small forward tonight. He draws a nice matchup against Nikola Mirotic, who is not known for his play on the defensive end of the floor.

Nikola Mirotic vs. Washington Wizards

Salary    $5,500

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    17.2    |    Last Five Games:    16.9

Min/Game --    Season:    24.3    |    Last Five Games:    30.7

FP/Game --    Season:    21.9    |    Last Five Games:    31.1

Joakim Noah is expected to return to the lineup tonight. While that may hurt the production of Taj Gibson and Bobby Portis, Mirotic has played the majority of his minutes at small forward recently. He is a strong play in all league formats tonight at small forward.

Power Forward

Draymond Green vs. Miami Heat

Salary    $9,800

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    17.0    |    Last Five Games:    15.9

Min/Game --    Season:    34.9    |    Last Five Games:    35.2

FP/Game --    Season:    40.1    |    Last Five Games:    49.1

Green has been a walking triple-double recently. While a fully healthy Stephen Curry may cut into his production moving forward, Green is still the top power forward option tonight. Over his last five games, he has averaged just under 50 fantasy points.

Pau Gasol vs. Washington Wizards

Salary    $8,700

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    21.4    |    Last Five Games:    22.4

Min/Game --    Season:    31.5    |    Last Five Games:    32.9

FP/Game --    Season:    37.9    |    Last Five Games:    40.7

Gasol is a bit expensive on FanDuel tonight, but with Joakim Noah back in action, there aren’t many great values at power forward. Taj Gibson and Bobby Portis will both see a decrease in minutes. Gasol should still see around 30-32 minutes against a short-handed Wizards’ frontcourt.

Center

Marcin Gortat vs. Chicago Bulls

Salary    $6,900

TO-Adjusted Usage --    Season:    15.7    |    Last Five Games:    13.6

Min/Game --    Season:    31.4    |    Last Five Games:    32.4

FP/Game --    Season:    29.7    |    Last Five Games:    29.9

Gortat is the chalk play at center tonight. The Bulls haven’t been particularly effective against centers and he has been in good form recently. Over his last five games, Gortat has averaged 29.9 fantasy points in 32.4 minutes per contest.

Note: This is not meant to be a full lineup. The picks are my favorite targets at each position.
