Today should be a fun six-game slate for some NBA action on FanDuel. There are the usual late season NBA shenanigans with resting veterans and spot-starting young players to “season” them and also improve draft lottery odds. Pay attention to the news up until lineups lock as you don’t want to be left shorthanded.
Elfrid Payton – ORL vs NYK - $8,000 – Much like when Happy Gilmore learned how to putt, Payton has learned how to score. It is impressive how much his price tag has escalated over the last two months, however, it has been well earned. The Knicks have been a bottom-ten team against point guards over their last nine games and they are just playing out the string. Payton is worth his weight in gold tonight as he is one of the few premium point guard plays who should see his full allotment of minutes.
Aaron Brooks – CHI vs PHI - $5,400 – Derrick Rose has returned, but I expect him to see limited minutes in this tune-up game against the 76ers. The Bulls are favored by -14.5, so there should be ample garbage minutes for their second unit. Brooks is a solid option for about 5x his price point and he has upside.
Beno Udrih – MEM at LAC - $3,500 – With Mike Conley expected to miss this contest, Beno Udrih will be pressed into starting duty. While this is not an easy matchup, he will get ample minutes at the site minimum salary.
Victor Oladipo – ORL vs NYK - $8,000 – The Magic are going to have some of the best matchups across the board and they continue to play their core starters big minutes. Even though their prices are relatively high, there will be enough value tonight to pretty much choose your favorite plays at each position. The Knicks have been a bottom-five team against opposing shooting guards from a fantasy perspective over the last three weeks and this is a matchup to take advantage of tonight.
C.J. McCollum – POR vs UTA - $4,700 – McCollum is essentially the last man standing with Wesley Matthews, Arron Afflalo and Dorell Wright all on the shelf for the rest of the season. His price has not yet caught up with his newfound production levels and I have McCollum locked into every lineup I have created so far on this six-game slate.
Quincy Acy – NYK at ORL - $3,800 – Injuries have also decimated the Knickerbockers and they were resigned to starting Quincy Acy as their power forward in their last game. Regardless of which position he is technically playing, the Magic will be generous hosts tonight having ranked as the worst fantasy defense against small forwards and the fifth-worst against power forwards over the last three weeks. Acy is one of the key plays that will allow you to spend up at several other positions tonight.
Draymond Green – GS vs MIN - $7,700 – Green has been outstanding in his last two games averaging 35.5 mpg, 17.5 ppg, 14 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 bpg and 1.0 spg for just shy of 44 FanDuel points. I really like him as a tournament option because as long as he gets 30-35 minutes against the Timberwolves tonight he should easily produce a fantasy point per minute. There is always a risk of Coach Kerr resting his key players if the game gets out of hand, but I think Green will get enough minutes to be effective tonight.
Derrick Favors – UTA at POR - $7,500 – In his previous three matchups against the Trail Blazers this season, Favors has averaged 20.7 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 2.3 combined blocks/steals. He is a fine play today as he should continue to see enough minutes that this is a reasonably expected production line for him in this matchup.
Tyler Hansbrough – TOR at MIA - $3,800 – Psycho T has certainly come out of nowhere to rack up 31 FanDuel points per game over his last three contests, and we have seen how badly Miami has struggled against power forwards ever since Chris Bosh was waylaid by his blood clot condition. If Amir Johnson is once again out tonight, Hansbrough becomes a core play in all formats.
Thomas Robinson - $4,600, Furkan Aldemir - $3,600 and Jerami Grant - $3,500 – All three of these 76ers are solid tournament options tonight as they have been playing extra minutes with the injuries to Nerlens Noel and Luc Richard M’Bah Moute.
Nikola Vucevic - ORL vs NYK - $8,600 – Vooch is another key play from the Orlando Magic in what should be a great matchup for their starters. He is easily the top center option on the board tonight and I have him on a majority of my rosters in all formats.
Marc Gasol – MEM at LAC - $7,700 – This should be a rousing game as both teams need a win to aid their playoff seeding aspirations. In three prior meetings this season against the Clippers, the younger Gasol brother has averaged 18.3 ppg, 8,7 rpg and 2.3 bpg. He is a nice contrarian option tonight if you are looking for alternatives to Nikola Vucevic.
