With this being the NFL Wildcard Weekend, FanDuel is still providing nearly $1M in guaranteed NBA action tonight, beginning at 7:00pm. The highlight of the slate is the game between Golden State and the Kings in Sacramento with a 223.5 projected point total. Just think of the fantasy goodness in that matchup!
John Wall – WAS at ORL - $9,800 – This will be the fourth time this season that Washington and Orlando are playing each other. In the first three, Wall averaged 20.3ppg, 4.0rpg, 10.0apg and 4 combined blocks/steals. There is a chance that Elfrid Payton misses another game with his injury, which would thin out the Magic backcourt and improve Wall’s chances for another solid performance.
Stephen Curry – GSW at SAC - $10,500 – Curry played his first game last night in Portland with his added shin protection and he turned in yet another sterling showing with 26 points, three rebounds, nine assists and a steal for 44.1 FanDuel points. While he is not cheap, he is about as safe a play is there is, shin bruise notwithstanding.
Klay Thompson – GS at SAC - $7,800 – How can we forget this is the same matchup where Thompson had his NBA record 37-point quarter? Last night he started out on a mission in Portland, scoring 19 points with five three pointers. Best of all, the Sacramento Kings are once again the worst team in the league against opposing two-guards from a fantasy perspective. Teammates Ian Clark and Brandon Rush - $3,700 are both in play as tournament cannon fodder so we can spend up at other positions.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – DET vs BKN - $5,900 – Over his last four games it looks like Kentavious has worked his way out of his mid-December swoon with 19.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.0spg for 30.1 FanDuel points. So yes, I am down with KCP.
Stanley Johnson – DET vs BKN - $3,900 – Johnson is steadily earning more of secure role in the rotation with teammate Marcus Morris - $5,000 beginning to fall back to his historical level of play. There are several top end plays in the frontcourt and at point guard that we will want to work into our lineups, so I am okay with punting the small forward position.
James Johnson – TOR at PHI - $3,500 – While this is not for the faint of heart, going with a Johnson and Johnson lineup in a low-dollar tournament would be one way of really creating a unique lineup. Johnson should thrive in the up-tempo game against Philadelphia and he is definitely in the mix for 20 FanDuel points, which would be 6-7x value.
Tobias Harris – ORL vs WAS - $5,700 – Harris has really struggled for the last fortnight, however, on Friday he reminded us with his upside potential posting 38.4 FanDuel points in Brooklyn and tonight he gets one of the best matchups against a Washington team that has been in the bottom three all season against small forwards.
Thaddeus Young – BKN vs DET - $7,100 – Young has been a very steady option all season averaging 15.8ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.6apg and 2.0 combined blocks/steals. In the previous matchup this season against the Pistons, Young hit for 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block. That is a reasonable line to pencil him in for and that would be right around 40 FanDuel points.
Draymond Green – GSW at SAC - $9,700 – Green produced his eighth triple-double of the season last night in Portland and he has simply been outstanding this season. There is not much else to say other than PLAY HIM!!!!!
DeMarcus Cousins – SAC vs GSW - $10,500 – In the last meeting between these two teams, Cousins picked up three fouls in the first quarter and ended up getting ejected early. In two of the last three games he has put up 60+ FanDuel points and he had “only” 50.5 FanDuel points in the third. Anything is in play from Boogie tonight, ranging from being tossed to posting 65 FanDuel points.
