FanDuel NBA Plays: Saturday

We have a huge Saturday slate tonight on FanDuel that is headlined by what should be one of the more entertaining games of the season. The Warriors and Thunder are the top two scoring offenses in the league and Vegas has the total for that one set at 230 points.  Be sure to check the NBA Starting Lineups Page to ensure your selections are starting, as the weekends are often a popular time to get players rest.

Point Guard

Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls, $6,200 - I certainly don’t mind loading up on the Curry and Westbrook combo at PG tonight, but the position is actually very deep. Jimmy Butler is doubtful tonight and Pau Gasol is questionable, which means huge usage for Rose tonight. Minnesota is 21st in DVP against PG on the season and Rose has put together two very strong outings in a row.

Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder, $11,000 - Between Westbrook and Curry, I’m giving the slightest edge to Westbrook as I like his ability to rack up peripheral stats, but both are obviously elite options. Westbrook has racked up three straight triple doubles, and the Warriors just allowed John Wall to torch them, which bodes well for Westbrook.

Also Consider - Stephen Curry, Ish Smith (he’s listed as questionable currently), Kyrie Irving (if Kevin Love is out)

Shooting Guard

Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors, $7,100 - The total on the OKC/GS game is set at a silly 230 points, so it’s a game we want to have plenty of exposure too. I’m making sure to grab one of Steph or Klay in my lineups as both draw quality matchups and the Warriors have a team total of 120 points. Dion Waiters is a very poor defender and the Thunder are 22nd in DVP against SG on the season.

Joe Johnson, Brooklyn Nets, $5,300 - I think he makes for an interesting tournament fade as I do project his ownership percentage to be very high and for him to be included in lots of OKC/GS stacks. However, he’s tough to get away from for cash games. He’s very affordable and has started to turn it on over his past six games or so. He’s coming off two of his best games on the year and facing a terrible Philly defense.

Small Forward

Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder, $10,700 - He’s the chalk play at SF tonight as the 230-point team total is sure to grab a ton of attention. However, he’s a tough fade for cash games as he’s an elite scorer in a game that should feature a great pace. The Warriors do have some solid wing defenders, so if Kevin Love is ruled out for the Cavs, then LeBron James becomes an interesting tournament pivot.

Stanley Johnson, Detroit Pistons, $4,600 - He’s similar to Joe Johnson in that I think he’s going to have big ownership tonight, as he allows you to fit in the big OKC/GS names. SF is a tough position to fill, and I do really like Nicolas Batum if you can afford the extra $1,400, but Stanley is locked into huge minutes with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope out of the lineup. He played 44 minutes last game and is still dirt cheap on FD.

Power Forward

Thaddeus Young, Brooklyn Nets, $6,300 - If you’re playing the high end GS/OKC options, you’ll need some mid-range plays to fit around them. Thad is one of my favorite mid-range options on the board today as his price is depressed and he’s facing his former team in the 76ers. His production is on the upswing again and he put up 18 points and 11 rebounds in the first meeting with the 76ers.

Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors, $9,200 - In terms of DVP, this isn’t a great spot for Draymond. However, he’s produced two straight triple-doubles, and the pace in this game will be elite. Given the high pace, I love his ability to rack up tons of peripheral stats in this game.

Also Consider - Anthony Davis, Derrick Favors, Taj Gibson (if Pau Gasol is out)

Center

Gorgui Dieng, Minnesota Timberwolves, $5,600 - I love guys like Brook Lopez, Andre Drummond and Karl Anthony-Towns as tournament options tonight as I think they will go under-owned due to the OKC/GS game. However, for cash games, Dieng allows you to fit in those high-end options and offers great minute security in a favorable matchup. The Bulls have struggled against big men all year long, and could be without Pau Gasol, Meanwhile, Minnesota is expected to continue to be without Kevin Garnett and Nikola Pekovic, so Dieng should continue to play 30+ minutes a night.
