FanDuel NBA Plays: Tuesday

We have a small five-game game slate tonight that includes a couple of excellent DFS matchups. When playing DFS on these smaller slates, it is very important to be conscience of your bankroll and the contests that you are entering.

The following DFS recommendations are specific to FanDuel’s scoring system and player pricing.

Point Guard

Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets, $8,400 – Not only do the Los Angeles Lakers rank as the worst team in defensive efficiency against point guards, but they have allowed the most fantasy points to the position as well. The Nuggets currently do not have a backup to Ty Lawson, as Jameer Nelson has been sidelined with an injury. This game features a solid over/under of 200.5, with the Nuggets favored by two. As long as Nelson remains out, Lawson will be pushing towards 40 minutes of action on a nightly basis.

Jordan Clarkson, Los Angeles Lakers, $4,900 – Opposite of Lawson, Jordan Clarkson makes for a solid play as well. Clarkson has been playing some solid basketball as of late, with at least 26 fantasy points in five out of six games.  He is coming off one of his best games of the season on Sunday when he went for 20/6/4 in only 27 minutes of action. Clarkson is a cheap way to get exposure to one of the two best DFS games of the night.

Shooting Guard

James Harden, Houston Rockets, $11,200 – This is the easiest recommendation of the night. Get James Harden in your lineups tonight! He is by far the best fantasy player taking the court and is playing in game that features an over/under of 214.5. This game is projected to remain close as well, with the Suns favored by two on the NBA odds board. Harden has exceeded 40 fantasy points in four straight games, which included a 67.8 outburst on Sunday versus Portland. It will be important to make some sacrifices in your lineup tonight in order to fit in Harden.

Jodie Meeks, Detroit Pistons, $4,000 – Meeks is viable cheap option in order to pay up for Harden tonight. I really wish the minutes were steadier for Meeks, but on a five-game slate we will need to take some risks. Meeks has played at least 25 minutes in two out of three games, which does offer some modest encouragement. I project Meeks to play slightly above 20 minutes in this game, which will give him the opportunity to grind out value.

Small Forward

Gerald Henderson, Charlotte Hornets, $5,700 – Small forward is a great spot to save some cap room, and to be honest, you really don’t have a choice. Henderson is the highest priced healthy SF at $5,700. He has been the primary beneficiary of the Kemba Walker injury, having exceeded 27 fantasy points in four straight contests. In these four contests, Henderson has also played at least 33 minutes in each game. He will be highly owned tonight due to this recent production, but locking him into your lineup still makes a lot of sense.

Trevor Ariza, Houston Rockets, $5,500 – Ariza provides an opportunity to get cheap exposure to the highest projected scoring game of the night (214.5). He has finally broken out of the shooting slump that he was stuck in for quite some time – he has scored at least 20 actual points in two of his last three games. The most appealing reason for considering Ariza is the fact that he is a lock for so many minutes (at least 32 in eight straight games).

Power Forward

Pau Gasol, Chicago Bulls, $9,700 – Gasol might just be the most consistent fantasy player in the entire NBA. His fantasy production ranges from 31.2-54.2 over his last 10 games. The floor of 31.2 is very impressive and relatively rare for just about any price point. Gasol will be matched up with the power forward position of the Sacramento Kings, which is currently somewhat of a revolving door. To be straightforward, Gasol should abuse whoever tries to cover him. He is an excellent high-end target tonight.

Donatas Motiejunas, Houston Rockets, $5,700 – Motiejunas is in play tonight simply because of the matchup and minutes. He will have the benefit of starting and being involved in this high scoring game. Motiejunas has played at least 29 minutes in six out of seven games. We really want to get as much reasonable exposure to this game as possible, so Motiejunas is definitely in consideration.

Al Jefferson, Charlotte Hornets, $8,300Andre Drummond gets abused by opposing centers on a nightly basis, therefore Al Jefferson is guy that you should strongly consider tonight. The basketball IQ and skill-set of Jefferson will be far too much for Drummond to contain. Big Al is coming off his best game since returning from injury in which he tallied 49.6 fantasy points against the very tough defense of the Indiana Pacers.  The 36 minutes he played in this game were the most since returning from injury, which indicates he is now 100% healthy. Jefferson is an excellent value play tonight.
