Tonight we have a small three-game slate to examine. There is one guy that I want to get into my NBA lineups, and we have some nice plays to fit in around him. Let’s get into my top selections for FanDuel tonight.
Yogi Ferrell: $6,100 (vs. Portland Trail Blazers)
With Deron Williams already ruled out for tonight’s game, we should keep playing Ferrell. He has played 35+ minutes in each of the last five games, and he’s averaging 30.86 FanDuel points per game in that stretch. He’s been excellent while Williams has been out, so I’m locking in the secure minutes at this price tag. Portland is ranked 11th in DVP against point guards this season, but Lillard has an awful individual defensive real plus minus. This is a great spot for Ferrell, and he should be able to excel in this pace up game.
James Harden: $12,700 (vs. Orlando Magic)
In the intro, I said there’s one player you have to have tonight, and without a doubt, it’s James Harden. The Magic have struggled against guards all season, so this is a plus matchup for Harden. The Rockets have the highest implied team total on tonight’s slate and are averaging 114.1 points per game this season. While the Magic play at a slower pace, the Rockets should be able to control the tempo at home tonight. Harden has over 65 fantasy points in three of the last five games, and he should keep that going against the Magic.
Aaron Gordon: $4,600 (vs. Houston Rockets)
Outside of Harrison Barnes, there isn’t a safe option at small forward tonight, meaning I like the idea of taking someone with upside. Gordon went for 35.7 FanDuel points against Houston earlier this season, and he’s coming off a 28-point fantasy game over the weekend. With Jeff Green ruled out for tonight, Gordon could play a couple extra minutes as well. Houston is ranked 28th in DVP against small forwards this season, and this is a pace up game for the Magic. Gordon remains a very boom-or-bust type of play, but I like him a lot in this spot tonight.
Frank Kaminsky: $4,500 (vs. Brooklyn Nets)
I haven’t talked about the Hornets yet, but I love them tonight against the Nets. The Hornets receive the highest pace bump of any team, as they face a Nets team that allows the most fantasy points per game. Since the trade, Kaminsky has been playing more minutes for the Hornets, and he draws an excellent matchup tonight. To fit in Harden, you’ll need some value plays, and Kaminsky is my favorite value play on tonight’s slate. The Nets are 27th in DvP against centers this season. Meanwhile, Kaminsky is averaging 2.5 minutes and 4.9 more fantasy points over his season average in the last three.
Brook Lopez: $7,600 (vs. Charlotte Hornets)
Center is a weak position tonight, so I’m going with the upside of Lopez in this game. Lopez has a 28% true usage rate this season, and that’s three percent higher than any other center on tonight’s slate. I think a lot of people will play Nikola Vucevic, and while I don’t mind that, his minutes always worry me. The Hornets have struggled against centers all season, and Lopez is the type of center that extends the floor. He has over 30 fantasy points in four of his last six games, and he went for 38 fantasy points in his last two games against Charlotte this season.
