After a very busy Thursday night of hockey, we keep it rolling with a rare nine-game slate on this Friday evening. The New York Rangers and Washington Capitals are your biggest favorites, and we have six teams (Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks and the Vancouver Canucks) playing on the tail end of a back-to-back.
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers, $9,600 - The New York Rangers are massive favorites tonight and that means King Henrik should be your cash game goalie. Lundqvist has been superb in goal for the Blue Shirts this season (1.97 GAA, .941 SV%), and we can expect him to shut down the Maple Leafs’ punchless offense. Lundqvist is a lock for the win and your best chance at a shutout this evening.
Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings, $7,100 - Zetterberg is off to a great start this season with 11 points in his first nine games. The Senators have struggled recently, losing four of their last five contests, giving up 19 goals along the way. Defensively, Ottawa has not had much success throughout the year, ranking 24th in goals against per game (3.11), and they are allowing the most shots per game (33.3) in the NHL. Zetterberg should easily hit the score-sheet in this game.
David Krejci, Boston Bruins, $5,800 - Krejci has been a man on a mission to start the year (7 G, 14 PTS in 8 GP). The 29-year old Czech has a point in every game this season and has found great chemistry with linemates Loui Eriksson and David Pastrnak. Look for Krejci’s point streak to continue in this one.
Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals, $10,000 - If you are going to pay up for any player tonight, make it Alexander Ovechkin. The “Great Eight” is the most consistent and explosive sniper in the game today. Not to mention, he will face a Columbus team that has been a disaster defensively this year. The Blue Jackets have allowed more goals against (41 in 10 games) than any other team in the NHL. Fading Ovi tonight will cost you money.
Mats Zuccarello, New York Rangers, $5,800 - The Rangers should score a few goals tonight, and you can bet their top line will be heavily involved. The Toronto Maple Leafs are ranked 27th in goals against per game (3.25) and 28th on the penalty kill. Zuccarello has multi-point upside in this matchup and is very reasonably priced.
John Carlson, Washington Capitals, $5,800 - Carlson has been a beast on the blue line for the Washington Capitals this season (10 PTS, 5 PPP, 8 GP), and he has multi-point upside tonight versus a defensively challenged Blue Jackets squad. Columbus has the second-worst penalty kill in the league, and I expect Carlson and the Capitals to excel on the power play this evening.
