We have a solid (and rare) six-game schedule on this Monday evening. The New York Islanders, St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens are your big favorites, while none of the 12 teams in action are playing on the tail end of a back-to-back set.
GOALTENDERS
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Jaroslav Halak, New York Islanders, $8,600 – Halak has been outstanding in goal for New York this year (1.89 GAA, .926 SV%, 2 SO) and he comes in to this game as the biggest favorite on the board. The Arizona Coyotes feature a much improved offense this season, which means we should see a decent amount of shots from the Desert Dogs this evening, leading to more points for our cash game goalie. Halak is a lock for the win and remains very reasonably priced.
Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Jake Allen, Mike Condon
Other Goalies To Target (Tournaments) – Frederik Andersen, Eddie Lack, Roberto Luongo, Ben Bishop
CENTERS
John Tavares, New York Islanders, $9,400 - The New York Islanders are huge favorites tonight and I expect them to walk all over the Arizona Coyotes. The Islanders’ offense runs through John Tavares, and I see a multi-point game in his future.
Other Centers to Target (Cash Games) – Ryan Getzlaf, Tomas Plekanec, Henrik Zetterberg, Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson
Other Centers to Target (Tournaments) – Nick Bjugstad, Bryan Little, Henrik Sedin, Alex Galchenyuk, Jori Lehtera
WINGERS
Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis Blues, $8,200 - Proving last year was no fluke, Tarasenko is up to his old tricks again this season (10 G, 16 PTS, 68 SOG in 16 GP). The 23-year-old Russian has been tearing it up of late, generating three goals and ten shots on net in his last two games. The Winnipeg Jets are reeling, losing five in a row and allowing 24 goals in the process. Tarasenko is on fire and should remain hot in this matchup.
Brendan Gallagher, Montreal Canadiens, $5,700 – Gallagher has excelled so far this season (8 G, 16 PTS, 60 SOG in 18 GP), while playing on the Canadiens’ top line and number one power-play unit. With three goals and six points in his last four games, it is safe to say he is on a heater. After a tough loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, I expect Gallagher and company to bounce back this evening. Dollar for dollar, Gallagher is easily the top Hab tonight.
Other Wingers to Target (Cash Games) – Max Pacioretty, Corey Perry, Alexander Steen, Kyle Okposo, Nikita Kucherov, Justin Abdelkader,
Other Wingers to Target (Tournaments) – Blake Wheeler, Daniel Sedin, Max Domi, Brock Nelson, Nikolaj Ehlers, Gustav Nyquist
DEFENSEMEN
Kevin Shattenkirk, St. Louis Blues, $5,800 – The Winnipeg Jets have not only lost five consecutive games, but they have also really struggled on the road this season, allowing the second-most goals against per game (3.36). The Jets also lead the NHL in penalties minutes per game (14.28), so I think Shattenkirk makes them pay with the man advantage in this game.
Other Defensemen to Target (Cash Games) – P.K. Subban, Andrei Markov, Nick Leddy, Aaron Ekblad
Other Defensemen to Target (Tournaments) – Victor Hedman, Mike Green, Colton Parayko, Cam Fowler, Brian Campbell, Yannick Weber
