We have a rare seven-game schedule on this Monday evening thanks to Thanksgiving week. The Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets are the biggest favorites tonight, and the Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings are the only teams playing on consecutive nights.
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Braden Holtby, Washington Capitals, $9,600 – The Washington Capitals are the biggest favorites on the board and Holtby is the goalie I trust the most in cash games tonight. Holtby is having an excellent season in goal for the Capitals and he has been sensational on home ice (1.90 GAA, .928 SV%). If safety in net is your thing, lock and load Holtby.
Nicklas Backstrom, Washington Capitals, $6,200 - The Edmonton Oilers have improved offensively, but they still remain a terrible defensive team. The Oilers have now allowed the second-most goals per game (3.15) in the National Hockey League this season. On the flip side, the Washington Capitals are averaging the fourth-most goals per game (3.16) and I expect them to light up the Oilers tonight on home ice. Backstrom has multi-point upside in this matchup.
Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis Blues, $8,200 – And the beat goes on for Vladimir Tarasenko. In his last five games, Tarasenko has produced five goals and four multi-point games. Look for more of the same tonight in Buffalo.
Blake Wheeler, Winnipeg Jets, $7,100 - The Colorado Avalanche are not only the NHL’s worst possession team, but they have also lost three straight contests, allowing 16 goals along the way. This is the last game of a long seven-game road trip for the Avs and I think they just want to go home. Blake Wheeler and the Winnipeg Jets play their best hockey at the MTS Centre and I expect him to find the score-sheet in this game.
Loui Eriksson, Boston Bruin, $5,300 – Eriksson has very quietly been a cash game stud in 2015, with nine goals and 18 points in 19 games. He has registered a point in four straight games, scoring four goals over that stretch. The Toronto Maple leafs are playing solid hockey these days, but they are still allowing too many shots and scoring chances against. At the very least, I expect the Bruins’ number one ranked power play to break through.
John Carlson, Washington Capitals, $6,100 - By now you know the Edmonton Oilers have struggled to keep the puck out of there net, but they also own one of the league’s worst penalty kills. The Washington Capitals on the other hand have one of the NHL’s deadliest power plays. Carlson is the Capitals’ power-play quarterback and he is in for a big night.
