We have a typical quiet Monday night of National Hockey League action with only four games on tap. The New York Islanders and New York Rangers are the biggest favorites this evening and the Calgary Flames are the only team playing on consecutive nights.

GOALTENDERS

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.

I have to be honest, at this time I have no idea what goaltender I am going with my cash game lineup. However, we have four solid options, even if I don’t love any of them. Despite being on the road, Quick and the Los Angeles Kings always seem safe, but this a tough matchup and Nashville is desperate for points. Roberto Luongo has been superb this season and Florida is a team we can trust, but facing the Rangers in New York is never an easy task. Normally paying up for King Henrik at home is an easy call, but he has been really shaky lately and this game is a coin flip to me. I expect both goalies to play well, but I am not sure who comes away with the all-important win. Perhaps Thomas Griess is the safest option of the four. He has played well in the absence of Jaroslav Halak and the Islanders are on home ice. What scares me about Greiss is how well Philadelphia has been playing, and we know there will be goals in this game.

This may be the toughest night all season long for trusting a tender. Perhaps punting the position with either Jonathan Bernier or Jonas Hiller and loading up on offense (GPP style) is the way to go in cash games tonight? Good luck to us all.

Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Jonathan Quick, Roberto Luongo, Henrik Lundqvist, Thomas Greiss

Other Goalies To Target (Tournaments) – Jonathan Bernier, Jonas Hiller, Steve Mason

CENTERS

John Tavares, New York Islanders, $8,300 - The New York Islanders are the National Hockey League’s fourth-best offense on home ice and Tavares has played his best hockey at the Barclays Center (12 G, 32 PTS in 31 GP). The Philadelphia Flyers are an average defensive team, but they do play undisciplined hockey at times. The Flyers have taken the third-most penalties per game this season and they do not have a good penalty kill. Look for Tavares to dominate this game at both five-on-five and with the man advantage.

Other Centers to Target (Cash Games) – Sean Monahan, Claude Giroux, Aleksander Barkov

Other Centers to Target (Tournaments) – Vincent Trocheck, Nazem Kadri, Frans Nielsen, William Nylander

WINGERS

Johnny Gaudreau, Calgary Flames, $8,000 - If I am paying up tonight, I am all over Johnny Hockey. The Toronto Maple Leafs have certainly been playing better hockey of late, but this is still a team we can pick on. The Maple Leafs are very young and inexperienced in both ends of the rink, and their goaltending is average at best. Toronto simply does not have a checking line or a defensive pairing that can handle the speed and finesse of Gaudreau.

Leo Komarov, Toronto Maple Leafs, $3,500 - We can expect both teams playing at the Air Canada Centre tonight to get involved in the scoring. Komarov returns to the lineup tonight and he has been a pleasant offensive surprise for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. The Calgary Flames have had an awful season on the blue line and in goal. As a result, Calgary sits in the bottom third of the league in just about every single defensive category. Playing on the Maple Leafs’ top line and number one power play unit, Komarov represents one of the best value options on the board this evening.

Other Wingers to Target (Cash Games) – Filip Forsberg, Kyle Okposo, James Neal, Jaromir Jagr

Other Wingers to Target (Tournaments) – Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, Anders Lee, Reilly Smith, Craig Smith, Kris Versteeg

DEFENSEMEN

Nick Leddy, New York Islanders, $4,500 - The New York Islanders are not only one of the league’s top offenses, but they are also a very deep offense, making it difficult at times to predict where their scoring will come from. Enter Nick Leddy, who gives you exposure to the Islanders’ entire offense since he plays a ton of minutes at both even strength and on New York’s number one power play unit. Leddy has multi-point upside in this above average matchup on home ice.

Other Defensemen to Target (Cash Games) – Mark Giordano, Shayne Gostisbehere, Aaron Ekblad

Other Defensemen to Target (Tournaments) – Mark Streit, Brian Campbell, Johnny Boychuk, Morgan Rielly
