Each day I will be providing my recommended player picks for your FanDuel daily fantasy hockey lineups. The goal is to help you build the optimal cash game (50/50s/double-ups/head-to-head) lineup.

We kick off the week with three games of National Hockey League action. The New York Islanders and the Boston Bruins are your big favorites this evening and this is where you will want to start when building your cash game lineups. With only six teams hitting the ice, it is not surprising that none of the teams are playing on consecutive nights.

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.

Jaroslav Halak, New York Islanders, $8,200 –The New York Islanders are by far the biggest favorite on the board tonight and with them facing the Vancouver Canucks and their inept offense, it is quite obvious how I landed on Jaroslav Halak as my top goalie. The Canucks have not only lost eight straight contests, they also sit dead-last in the National Hockey League in goals per game by a large margin, averaging just 1.58 goals per game this season. Halak may not see many shots in this game, but he is a lock for the win and he has shutout upside in this extremely favorable matchup.

Other Option: Tuukka Rask (BOS)

John Tavares, New York Islanders, $7,600 – Tavares is riding a four-game scoring streak (1 G, 3 A and 16 SOG) and he has a terrific matchup on deck. The Vancouver Canucks have lost eight games in a row and they sit in the bottom-third of the National Hockey League in most defensive categories, including puck possession and scoring chances allowed. Tavares will create plenty of scoring chances in this game and he should hit the score sheet multiple times. Tavares is not only my top center this evening, he is also my top overall play on this three–game slate.

Other Top Play: Steven Stamkos (TB)

Top Mid-Tier Plays: Patrice Bergeron, (BOS), Ryan O’Reilly (BUF)

Top Value Plays: Ryan Spooner, (BOS), Henrik Sedin (VAN)

Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins, $6,700 – Marchand is off to a great start this season (13 points in 11 games) and with Patrice Bergeron healthy he should continue to produce at a high level.Marchand and Bergeron have tremendous chemistry together, forming one of the best tandems in the National Hockey League. With a short slate on tap and the Bruins being one of the top favorites, getting a piece of their top line makes sense. At $6,700, Marchand is a must play for me in cash games.

Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning, $7,200 – The matchup against the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center is not ideal, but with a three-game slate, we need to consider rostering players in matchups we may not love. Despite facing a solid Panthers team on the road, Kucherov is certainly in play. The talented young Russian has been on a heater lately, generating three goals and seven points in his last three contests, and he is very much cash game worthy this evening.

Top Mid-Tier Plays: David Pastrnak (BOS), Ondrej Palat (TB)

Top Value Plays: Josh Bailey (NYI), Matt Moulson (BUF)

Nick Leddy, New York Islanders, $4,800 - The Vancouver Canucks are a disaster right now and they may be the top team to attack on this Monday evening. The New York Islanders should dominate this game and create plenty of scoring opportunities along the way, with Nick Leddy seeing over 22 minutes of ice time per game at both even strength and on the Islanders top power play unit, he should find his way onto the score sheet. At $4,800, Leddy may be the best bang for your buck on defense tonight.

Other Top Play: Torey Krug (BOS)

Top Mid-Tier Plays: Rasmus Ristolainen (BUF), Johnny Boychuk (NYI)

Top Value Play: Anton Stralman (TB)
