Welcome to the Sunday edition of FanDuel Daily Plays. Be sure you check the Starting Goalies and Lines page to confirm your selections are playing prior to lock. Here is who I am liking on today’s NHL slate.
John Gibson – $7,700 – The Ducks have suppressed high-danger chances as well as anyone in the past month. Gibson is a great goalie, the Ducks are at home, and are the big favorites to win this.
Henrik Lundqvist - $9,400 – The Red Wings are on a back-to-back and have really struggled analytically on the road. Their SCF % is much worse away from home. Lundqvist is an elite goalie and should be rostered with confidence if you can afford him.
Daniel Sedin - $7,400 – Colorado is the worst possession team in the NHL, and are on a back-to-back. Sedin is the biggest scoring threat on Vancouver and also the biggest volume shooter.
Evander Kane – $7,000 Kane is shooting at insane amounts. He ranks 3rd in the NHL behind Pacioretty and Ovechkin for individual shot attempts per 60 minutes, which raises his floor and makes his ceiling huge even with just one or two points. Kane is also a threat to fight and rack up points. Even against a good Pittsburgh team, he is a great play.
Phil Kessel - $6,900 – Kessel reunited with Crosby and Kunitz, and this is good news. Kessel went off last game and is very cheap in this great matchup against the Sabres. Kessel shoots a lot, and with these linemates and Crosby being this hot, I like him a lot.
Corey Perry - $7,400 – Perry has been racking up points of late, and has been getting lots of high danger chances, while shooting more. Perry is too cheap for his talent, and is playing like the Perry of old, in a home matchup against a Calgary team that struggles away from home.
Derek Stepan - $6,700 – With 21 shots in his last four games, Stepan is really starting to shoot the puck. Given the Red Wings’ road struggles, he should be able to continue to see results given his sudden willingness to shoot the puck.
Mikko Koivu - $5,400 – Koivu has been thriving with Parise under the new coach in Minnesota. Koivu has four points in three games and has been playing big minutes in all three.
Matt Dumba - $4,200 – No one in the NHL on the back end shoots more than Dumba does on the PP (25 shots per 60). With the top power-play unit slot locked up, Dumba is still underpriced every night no matter who the opponent is.
Sami Vatanen - $4,700 – Vatanen is an elite powerplay d-man and he faces Calgary, who he just had a big game against the other night, where he racked up a goal as part of his four game point streak.
Good luck in the games today!
