FanDuel NHL Plays: Thursday

Each day I will be providing my recommended player picks for your FanDuel daily fantasy hockey lineups. The goal is to help you build the optimal cash game (50/50s/double-ups/head-to-head) lineup.

We have another fantastic Thursday night of National Hockey League action with 10 games on the schedule. The Dallas Stars and the Anaheim Ducks are tonight’s biggest favorites and the Arizona Coyotes are the only team playing on consecutive nights.

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.

John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks, $8,500 - If you are just looking to secure a win tonight on FanDuel, John Gibson is the safest option. The New Jersey Devils are not an offensive juggernaut to begin with and now they are without two of their best snipers in Taylor Hall and Michael Cammalleri. In a game where the Anaheim Ducks should dominate from puck drop, Gibson is a lock for the win and he has shutout upside in this terrific matchup on home ice.

Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars, $8,200 – Although I am not a fan of Seguin playing without Jamie Benn, it really hasn’t hurt much, as he continues to post elite numbers. Seguin has 13 points in his last nine games and he should only add to those totals tonight. The Colorado Avalanche are not only a poor possession team, they have also played an undisciplined game in 2016-17, The Avalanche are averaging 12.00 penalty minutes per game (6th most in the NHL) to go along with the 22nd ranked penalty kill. Look for Seguin to stay hot with a multi-point performance this evening.

Other Top Plays: Mark Scheifele (WPG), Claude Giroux (PHI)

Top Mid-Tier Plays: Ryan Johansen (NSH), Jeff Carter (LAK)

Top Value Play: Henrik Sedin & Brandon Sutter (VAN), Radek Faksa (DAL)

James Neal, Nashville Predators, $7,200 - James Neal is smoking hot. The 29-year-old Oshawa, Ontario native has now scored in five consecutive games, racking up six goals and 18 shots on net during this hot stretch. The Ottawa Senators’ 1980’s open style of hockey should create many scoring chances for Neal tonight and I expect him to extend his goal scoring streak to six games.

Patrik Laine, Winnipeg Jets, $6,700 - Auston Matthews stole the show early on with his four-goal game on opening night, but the Calder Trophy is all about Patrik Laine now. The 18-year-old Finn has been a scoring machine for the Winnipeg Jets of late, producing six goals and nine points in his last nine games. Laine has become a staple on the Jets’ top line and number one power play unit. Facing a Philadelphia Flyers team that leads the league in goals against per game, Laine once again makes a strong play in your cash game lineup.

Tyler Toffoli, Los Angeles Kings, $5,500 - The Edmonton Oilers are showing a lot of cracks in their armor these days and they are certainly a team we can attack tonight. The Oilers have allowed the sixth-most goals against per game this month, and Cam Talbot has surrendered three or more goals in seven straight starts. Tyler Toffoli has been a little unlucky this season, but he continues to fire plenty of shots on goal and I think we see him hit the score sheet multiple times in this one.

Other Top Plays: Jamie Benn (DAL), Nikita Kucherov (TB), Corey Perry (ANA)

Top Mid-Tier Plays: Patrick Eaves (DAL), Brayden Schenn (PHI), Daniel Sedin (VAN)

Top Value Plays: Antoine Roussel (DAL), Vladislav Namestnikov (TB)

John Klingberg, Dallas Stars, $4,900 – Klingberg is simply too cheap. Throw in a plus matchup on home ice and he becomes a must play for me in cash games. With the Avs’ lack of puck skills, I expect the Dallas Stars to dominate this game from the get-go. This means plenty of scoring opportunities for one of the National Hockey League’s elite offensive defenseman.

Other Top Plays: Erik Karlsson (OTT), Roman Josi (NSH)

Top Mid-Tier Plays: Drew Doughty (LAK), Keith Yandle (FLA)

Top Value Plays: Troy Stecher (VAN), Anthony DeAngelo (ARZ), Nikita Nesterov (TB)
