We have a fantastic eight-game slate ahead of us on this Tuesday evening. The New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks are your biggest favorites, and the San Jose Sharks are the only team playing on consecutive nights.
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Brian Elliott, St. Louis Blues, $7,300 - There are plenty of solid cash game options in goal tonight, but I plan to roll out Brian Elliott. The 30-year-old veteran is not only inexpensive, but he is also a lock for the win against an offensively challenged New Jersey Devils squad playing without their best goalscorer (Michael Cammalleri). Elliott may not see a lot of shots, but he is as safe as they come this evening.
John Tavares, New York Islanders, $8,400 - After a strong start to the season, Tavares has really cooled off, registering only eight points in his last 17 contests. With the Columbus Blue Jackets in town, it is time to jump back on the John Tavares bandwagon. The Blue Jackets have allowed the most goals against per game this season and they will continue to get sub-par goaltending until Sergei Bobrovsky is healthy. Look for Tavares to break out of his mini-slump in a big way tonight.
Zach Parise, Minnesota Wild, $9,200 – Parise has been carrying the Wild’s offense on his back recently with five goals scored in his last five contests, including a hat-trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Buffalo Sabres have been playing like it’s 2014 lately, losing six of their last seven games, giving up 23 goals along the way. The Sabres remain one of the weaker teams in hockey in terms of possession, and they also own the NHL’s 27th-ranked penalty kill. Parise has multi-goal upside in this plus matchup on home ice.
Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks, $9,100 – FanDuel has done a great job loosening up their salary cap and we can afford to roster both Zach Parise and Patrick Kane tonight because of it. The NHL’s scoring leader has been on fire lately with four multi-point performances in his last seven games, producing 12 points over that stretch. Look for Kane to keep rolling tonight against a Nashville Predators team that has lost three consecutive games and five of their last six, allowing 23 goals against in the process.
Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning, $6,300 – Kucherov has been of hockey’s safest and most consistent cash game players all season long. He has registered points in ten of his last 11 games, including five of the multi-point variety. Playing against the National Hockey League’s worst possession team (Colorado Avalanche), Kucherov should continue to stay hot.
Ryan Suter, Minnesota Wild, $4,300 - Suter just goes out and produces positive points on a nightly basis. Despite his consistent production, he remains moderately priced on FanDuel. Logging almost 30 minutes per game, and with a favorable matchup at home, Suter is once again my top cash game option on the blueline.
