We have a rare busy night Wednesday night in the NHL, with six games scheduled. This will be the last night of daily fantasy hockey until next Tuesday, due to the All-Star Break. With 12 teams hitting the ice, it should be another fun and exciting night of hockey action. Enjoy the All-Star festivities and we will see you next week.
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Michael Hutchinson, Winnipeg Jets, $7,300 – Hutchinson had another strong performance Friday night, stopping 31 of the 33 shots he faced in the Jets’ big win over the Blackhawks in Chicago. Hutchinson has won three straight starts and seven of his last nine. Columbus is playing their fifth game in seven nights and will likely be a tired group. Hutchinson has been outstanding on home ice (1.94 GAA, .930 SV%) and I expect that to continue tonight.
Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Frederik Andersen
Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks, $7,300 – Toews remained hot, scoring his 14th goal of the season last night in Chicago’s massacre of the Arizona Coyotes. Toews is riding a seven-game point streak and is one of the safest and most consistent scorers in the NHL. Both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks are playing on consecutive nights and had to travel late last night. Look for Toews to find his way onto the scoresheet and continue his scoring streak tonight.
Corey Perry, Anaheim Ducks, $9,600 – Perry has been lighting it up the last three games, with four goals, five points, a +6 rating and 14 shots on goal. Perry is a lethal sniper and he happens to skate alongside one of the best playmakers in the game in Ryan Getzlaf. Perry has hat-trick upside on a nightly basis, and he is my top winger of the night.
Andrew Ladd, Winnipeg Jets, $6,900 – Ladd has points in nine of his past 10 games and is having a great season for the Jets (17 G, 39 PTS +10, 136 SOG in 47 GP). Ladd and his linemates (Bryan Little & Blake Wheeler) have been one of the best scoring lines in hockey this season, and Ladd has been a beast on home ice in his entire career. The Blue Jackets have allowed the fourth-most shots per game (33.1) and the fifth-most goals per game (3.11) in the NHL this season. Ladd should be in for a very productive night.
David Perron, Pittsburgh Penguins, $6,000 - Despite being held off the scoresheet last night in Philadelphia, Perron and his linemates (Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz) were dominant at times. Perron had numerous scoring chances and still fired four shots on goal. Perron has four goals, six points and 17 shots on goal in his last four games and should continue to produce playing alongside Sid and company. This game looks like it will be a shootout, so you may want exposure to both of the top lines from Pittsburgh and Chicago tonight.
Sami Vatanen, Anaheim Ducks, $4,300 – Vatanen has points in three of his past four games and is the Ducks’ powerplay quarterback. Anaheim has the most points in the NHL and they are very tough to beat on home ice (17-5-3). Vatanen is moderately priced and has multi-point upside tonight.
