It’s a pretty quiet Wednesday night of National Hockey League action, with only two games on the schedule. The New York Islanders and Boston Bruins should score goals from multiple lines and that is where I would start in cash games. The Ottawa Senators are the only team in action that are playing on consecutive nights.
Make sure to check the RotoGrinders NHL Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.
Thomas Greiss, New York Islanders, $8,600 – Greiss has posted solid numbers (2.29 GAA, .927 SV%) in goal for the New York Islanders this season and he is easily the safest cash game goaltender tonight. The Ottawa Senators are a tired, banged up group and I don’t think they will have much left in the tank after playing at home last night. Lock Greiss into your cash game lineup and watch him cruise to an easy victory.
If Jean-Francois Berube starts, play him with confidence and enjoy the discount.
Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – None
John Tavares, New York Islanders, $8,100 - The Ottawa Senators are once again the top team to pick on this evening. The Senators are not only playing their second game in as many nights, but they are also one of the National Hockey League’s worst defensive teams. Tavares is by far the top offensive option on the board tonight and he should easily have a multi-point night.
Kyle Okposo, New York Islanders, $6,400 - Getting a piece of both of the New York Islanders’ top two scoring lines makes sense in all formats this evening. The Ottawa Senators rank at or near the bottom of the league in most defensive categories, including Corsi, shots against, scoring chances allowed and goals against per game. Okposo has multi-goal upside in this plus matchup on home ice.
Brad Marchand ($7,600) and Loui Eriksson ($5,000), Boston Bruins – Since the beginning of February the New York Rangers are the National Hockey League’s third-worst team in terms of possession, which has resulted in them allowing the fifth-most scoring chances and the second-most high-danger scoring chances against in hockey. Making matters worse for the Blue Shirts, Henrik Lundqvist has now lost five of his last six games, allowing 20 goals against in the process. The Boston Bruins should get scoring from both of their top two lines, making Marchand and Eriksson solid cash game options on this short slate.
Johnny Boychuk ($4,500) and Nick Leddy ($4,400), New York Islanders - Both of these offensive blue liners make for great plays in your cash game lineup tonight. Even if we ignore the fact that the Ottawa Senators are a terrible defensive team and they are playing in consecutive games, we still have a Senators team that takes the seventh-most penalty minutes per game, with the NHL’s worst penalty kill. Boychuk and Leddy should see plenty of scoring chances in this contest at both five-on-five and with the man advantage.
