Tonight we have an amazing 10-game NBA slate. There are some great matchups and quite a few players in appealing spots. I expect it to be a high scoring night, as it’s one of the best slates we’ve had for tournaments in a long time.
Andrew Harrison @ Boston Celtics
This pick comes with a lot of risk, considering I’m not usually one to target the Boston defense. That said, I expect Harrison to be low owned on a 10-game slate, and that gives him upside at his current pricing. With Tyreke Evans already ruled out for tonight’s game, Harrison is the player that benefits the most. Without Evans on the floor this season, he has a 27.2% usage rate and is averaging 1.01 fantasy points per minute. That is a 6% usage and .21 fantasy points per minute bump. Again, I think Harrison is risky in this matchup, but I love the usage increase he's seen.
Donovan Mitchell vs. Houston Rockets
Mitchell’s price could lower his ownership tonight, but I love this matchup for him. With Neto out, Mitchell has been playing backup point guard when Rubio goes off the floor. He’s played over 36 minutes in six of the last seven games, and he has at least 20 shot attempts in six straight games for the Jazz. Houston ranks 20th in defensive efficiency against shooting guards this season, and if this game stays close, I would project Mitchell to be the reason why.
Nemanja Bjelica @ Sacramento Kings
With Jimmy Butler out for an extended period, Nemanja Bjelica should continue to start for the Timberwolves. He played over 30 minutes against the Bulls and has played at least 30 minutes in four of the last fives games that Butler has missed. He’s averaging 25.7 FanDuel points in those five games. Bjelica may not be a high usage player, but his fantasy points per minute go up without Butler, and his production is solid across the board when he receives the playing time.
John Collins vs. Los Angles Lakers
With Ersan Ilysova being bought out, the Hawks are going to give some of these young guys more minutes. That’s been the case with John Collins, as he’s played at least 30 minutes in back-to-back games. The big breakout game is coming, and this is an amazing spot for it to happen tonight. The Lakers rank 22nd in defensive efficiency and are ranked 29th against power forwards this season. This is also a massive pace-up situation for the Hawks, and their implied team total is 7.3 points higher than their season average.
Anthony Davis vs. Phoenix Suns
On FanDuel, it’s hard to make the decision between Davis and Towns at center. For me, I’m paying the extra money for Davis tonight, as I think he’s the top play on the slate. He’s had at least 80 (not a typo) fantasy points in three of his last six games. Davis also has a 34.8% usage and is averaging 1.65 fantasy points per minute without Cousins on the floor this season. That is a 4.6% usage and .25 fantasy points per minute bump. In addition, the Pelicans have a 119.8 implied team total tonight, which is 8.1 points higher than their season average.
