I’m here to break down tonight’s six-game FanDuel NBA slate starting at 7:00 ET. Keep in mind that this column was created earlier in the day, meaning injury information could change the fantasy landscape throughout the afternoon. Obviously you’ll want to keep track of any developments through Rotoworld’s NBA Headlines & Injuries Feed as we move closer to tip-off.
With that, let’s dive into each position while mining for the best value and overall plays in this slate.
Editor’s Note: Compete in a live snake draft right now! Drafts take as little as 2 minutes to complete and last just one night. For a limited time, DRAFT is giving Rotoworld readers a FREE entry into a real money draft and a Money-Back Guarantee up to $100! Here's the link
Take note that Smith Jr is currently listed as questionable for tonight’s game. If he plays, he’s a fantastic option while running the show for the injury-plagued Mavericks. Playing up in pace against Phoenix’s terrible defense doesn’t hurt either … If Smith is ruled out, Yogi Ferrell makes for an easy value selection through all formats. Remember that JJ Barea has already been ruled out, along with pretty much majority of the Mavericks team.
Donovan Mitchell – Utah (vs GS)
It makes plenty of sense to invest in Donovan Mitchell tonight. Utah is fighting for home court advantage in the first round, also wanting to avoid a series against the best teams of the conference. In other words, they have extra incentive to feed their regular starters plenty of minutes. Mitchell has proven that the “rookie wall” doesn’t apply to him, looking solid down the stretch. There’s a good chance he’ll keep that going while playing up in pace vs Golden State tonight.
Lance Stephenson – Indiana (vs CHA)
Victor Oladipo, Thaddeus Young, and Bojan Bogdanovic will sit out for Indiana tonight. That means Lance Stephenson should see plenty of minutes and usage to emerge as one of the best all-around value plays on this slate. We all know Stephenson loves to have the ball in his hands, and he’ll have plenty of opportunities to rack up efficient fantasy production vs Charlotte.
Dwight Powell – Dallas (vs PHX)
If Lance Stephenson is the easiest value play of this slate, Dwight Powell makes for a close second. The Mavericks are decimated in the frontcourt with Harrison Barnes, Dirk Nowitzki, Nerlens Noel, and Salah Mejri out. Powell should have secure playing time in an ideal matchup against a Phoenix team that ranks third in pace, 21st in rebound rate, and dead last in defensive efficiency vs opposing frontcourts.
Alex Len – Phoenix (@ DAL)
Remember the previous write-up where I mentioned Dallas’ frontcourt being decimated? That should help Alex Len feast in this matchup. The Mavericks weren’t very good against opposing bigs to begin with, and their lack of depth doesn’t help. Len is fresh off a 25 minutes 29 FP outing vs Golden State on Sunday, and a repeat performance is very much on the table.
